Adventures of an old Seadog

Adventures of an old Seadog

Күн бұрын

Here we go again! This is the beginning of the new adventure, the biggest adventure of my life, sailing my 36 foot sailing boat out into the big blue. Come with me.
This week I finally get away and head to sea. With a friend along for the first few days, we visit the Beautiful Cornish town of Fowey before my last stop in England, Falmouth.
Many thanks to Richard Williamson for the cool drone footage.
I'd love you to thumbs up and subscribe here on KZbin. Also 'like' my Facebook page 'Adventures of on old Seadog' for 'realtime' updates and chat.
This is episode 33 of an ongoing web series. Thanks so much for watching. Safe sailing to all.x

Well Barry I've been watching your episodes for a couple years now and today I thought I would go back and watch older episodes of you prepping Shadie for her adventures. its very interesting to see what you had to do and knowing what lays ahead for you and Shadie, you are the my hero- the best video's on you tube, if you ever decide to write some sailing books I'll be buying them for sure, you are a great story teller and the best person ever to travel the World with !!!

I built a radar arch for Dreamweaver. years ago. Found that I had to add a cross bar underneath the aft cross bar to stiffen the whole mess. We carry the dink off the arch. The lower cross bar stiffened the rig nicely.

I enjoy These videos. I'm about the same age as you but have to still keep on working to finance my boat. Five years ago sailed my Westerly Tiger from Cardiff to Falmouth. I left the boat in Falmouth for a week at the marina and came back to find my outboard had been stolen. Then sailed solo over to Brest and then had the boat transported to my workplace in Munich, Germany. The boat this year was taken to Regensburg on the Danube for the journey down the river to the Black sea. The boat is now near Budapest and will have to wait another year before continuing as I have to work again with no more holiday time.

So like most I got to this channel around the time of your pacific passage, and now I'm watching from the beginning to catch. Gotta say, this video and a couple of ones before have me surprised how much sailing has made you look *younger* further down the line. Looking pretty old in this video, and by the time you're crossing the pacific you look way better. That's awesome.

01:00 - Why does it always seem necessary to gun the motors like this and send a great surge through a mooring field. I thought this was just an exclusive practice confined to volunteer groups in Australia . Surf Clubs, State Emergency Services and Volunteer Coastguard types. Lol. Love your channel Barry.

Hi Barry - what a fantastic video production that was - really enjoyed it. Re the vibration with the solar panel arch in high windows - I wonder if you could retune the resonant frequency by adding two horizontal bars one on each side near where the lateral panels fit. I realise this suggestion my have gone past its sell by date as I gather you would not have sailed in December!! Hope you are enjoying Alex Tompson's video updates from the Vendee Globe - he is a cool customer by George! Sorry don't do Facebook :-(

I now have a go pro but most of the action stuff is filmed on a sony action cam. Unlike most models of go pro it has stabilisation. My main camera is a Panasonic hc-v700 with an external microphone.

so whats the score with scrap carbon fibre? is it worth a quid or two,or just use it shaped as is where you can?I know its expensive first time round,after not a clue.and why is it everyone i know who does sailing vlogs has such a time delay in publising,I can understand a bit because of impracticalities,but they are verging on history?just askin
@AdventuresofanoldSeadog
@AdventuresofanoldSeadog 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay. Yes Carbon fibre is very expensive but used as it's very strong. Re time delay on the videos. As well as filming it takes a full day to edit each one. Im at sea a lot of the time with no internet or way to work on material so it all takes time. Thanks for watching.

Suddenly he has a crew mate but does not describe anything about him or the circumstances that led him to get a helper on the boat. It is gaps in the story like this that are not good. Yet he keeps repeating about all the bad weather.
