We’re off to MEXICO! 🇲🇽 (Traveling during a FAA outage 😅 + layover in Mexico City!)

We're spending the next 4 months traveling by plane instead of van and to kick off 2023, we're off to Mérida, Mexico for two weeks! 🇲🇽 We flew from Austin to Mexico City to Mérida, with an interesting FAA hiccup along the way, plus tacos, of course! 😜

Love Mexico! I'm in Phoenix, so Mexico is a very good neighbor where I have visited often (Cancun 3X, and Ensenada on cruises from San Diego 3X). Nice start to 2023, get caught up on work (always something that needs to be done...), but take some time and enjoy the culture, food, and festivities while there. Cheers and Viva Mexico! Pete in AZ

We're having a blast here in Mexico! On this trip we're really focusing on work/life balance. We've done lots of things in town without the camera and that's not something we ever do! There's been so many festivities going on here, tons of great food and coffee shops, and the culture is amazing!

I was flying that day too - my flight was scheduled to depart shortly after they got the system back online and the backup of airplanes waiting to de-ice wound up making us nearly an hour late.

I also flew on the day the FAA crashed. I was late 3 hours getting out of NYC and then my connection was pushed back 3 hours. But I finally made it to Guadalajara.

I used to travel two weeks in Mexico and I have been to Merida for a day. I definitely recommend Campeche if not too far. I personally love the temple ruins in Palenque. But it is a bit far from Merida😅

Great video. Are you doing work for the local tourism authority in Merida or just getting caught up on A+K work? Also do you use Global Entry or Nexus to speed up getting in & out of Mexico??

It has been an excelente and delicioso time so far! Kathryn does a lot of the filming so she usually sits by the window to film out the window. I have long legs and I like to have the aisle so I can stretch my legs if I need to. I don't like being cooped up by the window as much I love looking out the window though!

Yes but your Airplane had to fly to AUS from some place in Mexico. That City may have had the weather. I suggest getting FlightAware app on your phone. You can see where your airplane is. #AirlineStaffHint

There is only one Aeromexico flight from Austin and it’s to Mexico City, just once a day. The plane was already there from the day before (they confirmed that the plane was already in Austin when announcing the delay as well).

@@AdventuresofAplusK An Airline flight has to deal with not only the AUS WX but the route and more so the WX at the destination MEX. Perhaps there was weather in MEX. At any rate FlightAware is a useful tool for Airline Passengers, we Airline Staff use it as well. Happy Travels.

Disagree. Depends where you go. Just like everywhere, yes even the good ol US of A…there are places you do and don’t want want to go. We’ve had nothing but positive experiences from the friendly and welcoming people of Mexico the many times we’ve been.
