My wife and I will be retiring soon and we are looking for a caravan to travel around Australia. We haven't found one we would buy on impulse. And there is no way i would buy a caravan with the battery on the outside of the van. And it would have to have 2X 180lt water tanks.

G'day, if buying new, you might be forced to live with the batteries on the outside as the legislation has changed forcing batteries out of the living area. They now must be external and vented to the outside. Our mates at REDARC have a great article on it here - www.redarcelectronics.com/au/discover/new-caravan-standards/

I wouldn't go an import. Support local and get quality, all good if you are travelling now and then. All personal choice in the end.

Plenty of evidence kicking around that build quality is comparable between import and Aussie build. Depressing, but true.

Unfortunately Aussie builds actually lost the quality award this year. On average Aussie builds are failing more

If it is put together like there other vans then no thanks, The Chinese part of it is ok, it is when Australia fits it out it goes to sh#@!t warranty service could be better if the morons kept parts in Australia, the 12volt wiring is a disgrace Jayco is bad but Snowy is worse . Caravan of the year you are kidding.
