As a single person in a small home w/ limited storage, I like buying the smaller-sized products like condiments. They take up less space and I can usually use them up before they expire. 👍

I have people all the time tell me I'd get more buying bigger. I get more WASTE as I live alone. I like the smalls as well. Also, i like the smalls to try a product for the first time to see if i like it-dont want to throw away a bunch of food cuz I didnt like it. AND smalls are great in gift bags/baskets.

Buying small quantities is one thing, but the big thing at $ Stores is that everything seems to be in smaller containers than it used to be, and now costs $1.25, instead of a dollar, and that's not just for food. I bought moisture absorbers at $Tree the other day, and the containers were a lot smaller than they used to be. Buying canned foods isn't such a good buy when you can get canned French cut green beans and corn for 50cents a can at Winco. I live alone an never waste any food, in fact, as a mindful and frugal Prepper, I mitigate shortages and inflation. Just because an item is sold at $Tree doesn't mean it is a good buy, one has to be careful.

I shop at Dollar Tree every month. Not just food shopping, but I love the selection of body washes and matching shampoos that are sold for $1.25 each. My hair looks fantastic, and my skin is so soft and moisturized. They are 100% better than the higher priced ones sold in other stores, and so are the scents. I also love the smaller size food items that are sold. Perfect for us single retired people.

@ellenfr3100 -- I go there for the Colgate Sensitive toothpaste. The 2.1 oz tubes are still $1.25. I can get 6.3 oz. (3 tubes) for more than a dollar cheaper than the 6 oz tube at Walmart. It's almost $5 at Walmart. I quit buying it there a couple of years ago.

Sometimes though, you could be looking for something that a friend or family member found at Dollar tree and not be able to find it at all I was looking for Pez candies in my town and not one store had any, except for one particular store that had one tiny little pack left Either stores don’t carry them, or they don’t carry enough of them You’re actually better to go online because you never know what you’ll find in the world wide web of shopping Not only did I find plenty of Pez candies, but I also found other stuff I wasn’t even looking for No wonder some of the stores are closing, they can’t compete with online shopping if they don’t have what customers want If they don’t have what customers want, they’ll look elsewhere and give their business to competitors When you shop successfully with competitors because they have what you want, then that means the one who can’t compete lose his business because that’s one more customer out the door, taking their money elsewhere

I got a big box of tomatoes for a dollar. If you don't have time to can stuff, you can freeze it. I have a freezer full of tomatoes, prppers, onions, cabbage,kale, strawberries and peaches. Tip: Watch the quantity. Like he said about sugar going down from 16oz to 12oz. I noticed that Scotties facial tissues - come in boxes of 120, 150 and 160. All the same size box at the same price. You have to look at the fine print. And all on the shelf mixed together. I stood there picking through to find the 160's. And if you favorite DT is out of them, just go to another DT. I was in a city where they had 3 DT's on the same street, about a mile apart. We visited all 3 and found different stuff in each.

We finally got a dollar tree. At first it was mostly odds n ins then they got the food coolers and food shelves. It's been keeping us afloat the last three years. Manager told me I can't film there but that's ok. The sugar is usually empty and I love tea but they have Lipton I think one liters or 32 oz for $1. I found some aluminum free deodorant whoohooo it's hard to find stuff I'm not allergic to. Lol I'm wearing socks I bought there, they are comfy fit good and very warm. Lol my husband tries to steer me clear of all their crafting and holiday items. I sooo love to make earrings ! They have toilet paper, tissues and napkins and paper towels at mine-- they work real well and is soft. Our dollar tree is always packed with people and Lord help you on paydays and few days after cuz shelves are empty. I get the dole pineapples they are very good. Last thanksgiving and Christmas I had a small feast for $35 a meal. Between the dollar general, family dollar and the dollar tree it was $35! Last month relatives took care of thanksgiving. I'm a door dasher and I get $2 a delivery plus tips. Some evenings it's $16 sometimes it's $20. The dollar tree really saved us when my husband lost his job. It's rough trying to figure out ok save $10 for gas and what's left get dinner. On the days I do great and make $30 or $40 I save $10-20 for days I don't get orders. The struggle is real for sure. Something has to give with these prices ugh I remember mama buying a can of baking soda for 35 cents! Bread was 59cents a six pack of coca cola was 89 cents a pound of ground beef 78cents spaghetti and macn cheese 25 cents. It's ridiculous the same spaghetti is now almost $5 and same wonder bread is almost $7! The grocery store is losing lots of business but we can't afford it. Politicians in town trying get people to go to the regular grocery store... If same can of pineapples from dole can be sold for $1.25 at the dollar tree then why can't the grocery store? Same can same brand same size it's almost $5 I'm blabbering.... We get meat and fresh veggies from grocery store everything else we get at our "dollar triplets"

I can't say what Co I work for, but we have had regular meetings about tariffs. I work in inventory and scan for my Co and we are buying extra stock for what is coming. The higher ups intend to slowly raise prices due to tariffs; gradually instead of all at once. Even if the tariffs do not happen, they will not send a patch to lower the costs. In my job; I do all of the UPC's and check in all of the inventory we receive. I'm fully aware of what we pay and what the mark up is on any product in the store.

With prices going up, they need to change the names of these stores.
@kehlarr5525
@kehlarr5525 Ай бұрын
Changing the name of the business is financially prohibitive because it costs a lot of money. Think about everything that has the Dollar Tree name/logo on it...shopping bags, window signage, outside store signage, etc. It was a HUGE financial investment to REMOVE the 'Everything's $1' from each and every store throughout the country a couple of years ago. It would drive up the prices higher than what they currently are.

Dollar Tree coconut milk and what looks like 'evaporated' milk are inferior. They are watered down and/or contain oil, as the "filled" evap. milk is. That isn't a terrible price for pecans at that size, 1.5 oz. They are $4.99 for 4 oz at Kroger. Art paper/journals/tablets, colored pencils, fancy pens, special crayons are a good present even for teens, let alone coloring books and fancy crayons for kids.

I’ll run in for a soda on occasion because drive thrus are $1.79+. I like the cleaning products and love the soup mugs! They stack and are microwave safe. I do not heat things in plastic. The Crispy Onions...I thought they were dehydrated but I opened one but they were delicious too. I do not usually go for fried onions but those would be really good on a stringbean casserole with cream of mushroom soup. The sugar in the bag is non gmo. Sugar cane is one of the crops they spray with glyphosate to dry the leaves. It is also a dessicant. this is like a few days prior to harvest so the glyphosate is still on the plants. Oats, wheat and probably more is sprayed with glyphosate. I am not glad to see brand name junk food being brought in Chips ahoy and oreos. Go to Safeway...I like the smaller brands. I'd rather pay them more than junk food company global conglomerates. Let's buy from small businesses.

@ that is also sadly untrue. Happy Holidays is used when 1) There are more than one holiday coming up and you may nnit see the person before they all happen Happy Holidays covers them all (like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years) or 2) you do not know what holidays a person celebrates so rather than extend greetings for the wrong one, you simply use happy holidays. It has NOTHING to do with removing Christ and it is so sad that people continue to spread such hate-filled interpretations about a wish for happiness.
