We had a big ol' ginger cat back in the 60s. He also hated raw meat, but loved his raw fish, still kicking. He also loved a darn good fight every night before settling on mu mother's lap for a snooze in front of the TV. He was a huge cat and a dog fighter, kept our street dog free, except for resident dogs, who got beaten up occasionally to keep them in line and remind them who was boss of the street, Thanks for posting, I enjoyed watching it.

@ he came into our house when I was 8. Mum named him Combat after the tv show. After the evening fights he would settle for a snooze on Mum’s lap. We would fish off our wharf regularly and have a bucket of live bait with us. It wouldn’t last long because combat was quite a fisher himself 😂😂. He passed away on the day our son was born so when I rang my parents with the news of their first born grandson they were in tears. He was a wonderful, beautiful ratbag 😂 and still has his place in my heart looking after our other furbabies, 45 years after his passing at 17. Have a wonderful day. 👋👋

@@kaisenji thank you. I did skip a little (unintentional) but in the original post I said Combat loved a good fight 😂. Well the fight(s) of which I spoke were with us, my 2 brothers and myself. Up into our later teenage years he’d fight us during TV time, after study time, the 3 of us, one after the other and we would have scratches up our arms 🤣. Following fight time he would curl up on Mum’s lap for a hour’s nap before toiletries and bedtime. He’d pick his bed for the night with no arguments 😂. He loved and protected our old lab we had when he arrived and then a couple of temps we rescued until homes were found. He’d look after them, wrestle them, take them for walks to the neighbours and back. Walk with us to the bus stop and be there for the afternoon bus home. My best friend’s neighbours put in a freshwater pond and put 4 big, expensive fantails it, well, one day one of them disappeared. Police were called to investigate theft, but my friend’s parents knew exactly where this fish ended up. The morning of the ‘theft’ my mate let Combat in to say hello and Combat picked up the remaining part of the fish, took it into their bedroom and plonked it on their bed 🤣🤣. They didn’t have the heart to tell their neighbours the truth, would’ve cost us a fortune to replace it, but rather blamed it on the hawks. The pond got a bird And cat proof enclosure after that. The whole street loved the dig fellow, he was fastidious with his cleanliness and would even clean the dogs if they sat still long enough 😂, taught how to use the pet door & ramp through game. All our neighbours had stories about him, visiting, pinching fish, playfully attacking their legs, treeing their cats, a fair dinkum ratbag but good natured. Even today I think about that cheeky ol’ fella every day and how blessed we were to be given the chance to have him as part of our family. WOW! Another long post, my poor old finger 🤣🤣🤣 Love you guys!!!! Stay safe, best of the season to ALL!!! PS one day I’ll tell you about our Phoebe, the ugliest pup I’ve ever seen who grew into a heart stealer, she also passed in my arms about 16 years ago. And Flossie, a part cattle dog I taught to work cattle and when I got crook and couldn’t do it any more we’d use her to round the kids up and bring them home 😂😂.
