A typical government. LAZY is my nice word for them. His mother always said thats where she knew he was! Jarrads team found the vehicle in a very very short time. They dove on it and WHAM! The time it took for anyone to even turn up was atrocious. The arrogance of the 1st officer was so far way beyond what he should have been doing or saying. He upset me so much as well. The timeframe in which they were involved in this case was so long. SLACK GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS who like to sit on their fat As and do anything that is easy. Nothing else. They think theyre beyond anything else. It happens in virtually every country sadly. He should have been severely repremanded and stood down to be re trained and how to deal with this type of situation. If that has been part of training in the first place, MAYBE (some people you cant teach - you cant even fix it with Duct tape and Id say hes one if them). Sad to say this but I hope HE has this situation in his family. That MIGHT be the only way he will PULL HIS HEAD IN and learn to treat everyone the respect they deserve, especially in regards to deaths and missing persons. I dont know what chip he had on his shoulder bit he was so very arrogant! Thanks Jarrad and all your Team. You do something that rarely happens. I also watch a few other sites and found youve all joined at some stage with what theyre doing. What a lot of very special individuals, all teaming together yo help mankind. If I were there, Id give each and every one of you a huge hug - stuff this horrible 'C' were trying yo cope with atm. Please take care! Its a pleasure to watch these different sites.

I've been a Detective for over 25 years. The reason why your team where treated that way, is because you found the car and they didn't. It's actually very embarrassing to be shown up by someone not in authority. The correct way it should have be handled would have been. The senior officer or agent thanking you for the discovery and informing you that it is a crime scene, taken your information and that you will have to leave. Then talk to their dive team what you encountered, any hidden dangers in the river. They should have thanked you for the locate and allowing the family to grieve privately. Since my fellow brothers in blue can't say it, I will.... Great job Adventures with a Purpose.

@ only a silly goose would make assumptions about what a stranger thinks on KZbin and think they know them personally enough to call them a _narrow minded moron_ But hey, if you actually read what I wrote... As I said, police *hardly ever* want to search waterways because of the complications and training involved- also money and time. Facts. You can try to dispute it.. but it's well known within the law enforcement community that searching waterways is the last resort in a missing persons case. Which is why it is normally not until a fisherman stumbles across a body that they actually have the dive team suit up and recover them. As I also said this could be seen as pure laziness by some people, on this departments side, considering they were told and given good reason to check there. And considering it's someone's life involved. Just like the lives of the other cases you're saying they are "stacked" with. So no excuses then. It's the same thing. No life is more important than another in their work. Which is why I said in the end, we need more people like this willing to volunteer their time and knowledge to help families out who would have to wait much longer for the sheriffs department to get to it otherwise. Now go have some coffee or tea and relax, no one's coming after you.

As someone who works on the Security field, interracts with local law enforcement on an occasion and has respect for the job they do, this really hits below the belt. As an Officer of the law, You're serving the public. Its your legal and moral obligation to aid your community if the need arises, and theres no shame in asking other Departments or independent professionals for help, if your Departments own know-how and / or resources cant cover it. You dont just mosey on over somewhere else when theres real work to be done, pretending like you're occupied with better things to do. And while i get that the job might be stressful in terms of field conditions and the deskjob bureaucracy, its still a job that needs to be done. And why is it always with young people: Hey they run away!? Are those cops too lazy to do they´re job they are paid to do!! They serve us, and sometime´s somebody need´s to eat humble pie and get fired😡😤. In my home country young people under 18 goes missing cops are on full search. So if indeed there is a crime, it´s better go on a full than say: oh it´s just kid´s they run away , than oh shit there´s been crime. And now is too late to get forensics.. And even if you are adult and it´s out of your character to go missing police go full search to find the missing. That is one reason we love our police and trust them. Of course like any other country there just are people you are never gonna find. And that´s sad😢😭. It´s like Puff and there are no sightings or anything. It´s rare to dissapear volantary here. So almost every missing case is accident or homicide.. What these guy´s do are outstanding. And i´m happy(well you know) that families finally have an ending. Oh i live in Finland sory my spelling. Do not ever apologize to the police again. They 100% failed that young man, that family, and the community. You as an out side did more in an hour and a half than the F-Troop did months.

They played it perfectly. Took the high road, while also putting that "sheriff" in his place several times.

They are just trying to not escalate the situation and make it harder on the family..

Also there's no way they searched that area. It was 20 feet from shore and not deep. They didn't do their job

As a former 911 dispatcher, FF/EMT I can tell you that Sheriff’s Office was pissed because you guys did what they didn’t. Get answers for that family. They should have been thankful for your help & assistance. If I was incident command I would have welcomed all of your help & assistance. At the end of the day regardless if you are a public official, volunteer or 3rd party the most important thing is a 17 year old son, brother, nephew & friend was located & can be laid to rest. I’m sorry you had such a negative experience. Rest In Peace Nick. ♥️😔

Yes. That Sheriff must learn to leave his ego at home. There was no reason to be so defensive other than him being scared to lose face because of his incompetence.

Didn't, wouldn't, couldn't. These men do it for free. There are many good people who want to help if the "professionals" would put away their fragile egos and work for those who elected and pay them.

This deputy was purely horrible, he was defensive to the point that he was trying to make it out that they were making it up that they found the vehicle.

While inexcusable, his behavior probably represented his embarrassment that a team from Oregon showed up and took an hour to find him. When you have elected officials that just "mail it in" because they've been there way too long, it's time for some replacements.

Mind blowing. No wonder they had to come out and find the car themselves. Sickening

and all he was worrying about was them filming him and wasn't worried about being there for the family
