Thank you for honoring this young man rather than berating him. It was a gentle quiet video done with grace, class and honor. My comment was for that and to tell the algorithm that i genuinely care and appreciate the care you took with portraying his character and disorder. Thank you for finding him and at all times making it about him and not you. This is exactly what social media should be used for.

The fact that they find these victims almost always within a 5 mile radius makes me question how hard the police looked. If they do not have the resources or the skill set then the government needs to provide funding rather than sending millions of dollars to god knows what. The fact that these men find them within a day is just mind baffling. These families deserve a real investigation and closure.

Lack of funding, but also the problem that it requires spezialised training to do what these guys do. Training and regular recertification. Most rural PDs probably don't see the need for the few cases they get. And/or have trouble finding the people willing to do it, as you would need at least two or three (diver and spotter).

I only just discovered this channel yesterday. But as I watched more I began to realize that I very nearly became one of these lost people. I used to live in Pensacola, FL, and I used to drive over the route 90 bridge every day to get to work. At that time I was suffering from severe depression, living in an abusive house I developed suicidal thoughts. Every day when I drove to work, I thought "Would anyone find me if I just drove off the bridge into the river at 4 in the morning?" If you know anything about Pensacola, you know there's hundreds of boat ramps everywhere. Almost every night, late at night, I left the house just to go sit at a boat ramp, contemplating if I should just put the car in drive into the water and sink. I dealt with this for almost 2 years before I finally left to a different state. Now that I am discovering this channel, it makes me think: If I had done it, would I have ever been found? Would I have been another lost person? Luckily I will never know because I am in a much better mind state than I was over a year ago, and I have healed and sought help. If you ever find yourself in the same position I was in, don't do it. You are loved and people will want to find you alive and safe.

@@kirstyb90 Why do you think that? If a truth like that exists then it has to be absolute and I'm sure you have good reason to believe that? The Words of God recorded in the Bible record that once a man dies, then comes the judgment. He either goes to heaven or hell, depending on his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Gospel of John (an eyewitness account of Jesus' life and words) talks a lot about this.

Most missing person cases are not solved by the police unless it is high profile. It’s usually the families or some volunteer organization that leads the charge and notify the law after they have done most of the grunt work. This shows that police don’t care about solving cases and I don’t want to hear about no funding… they have money for new cars and weapons. They can find these cars with drones or a magnet…they just didn’t bother to look close enough.

I don’t think the local authorities are always inept and without compassion and care for these missing persons cases but you are right that there are more than there should be…. I think in the last year authorities have come to trust and appreciate these groups… and take advantage of their expert skills at this. I think early on the authorities just saw them as guys just wanting KZbin hits and notoriety, saw them as interfering and disrespecting the families but now actually understand what their purpose is and actually can’t prevent them from searching because it would just make them look so incredibly bad in the community’s eyes….

As someone who’s waited 16 years and counting for answers to my best friends murder I sit here holding back sobs as I think about the closure you’re giving these families. The not knowing what happened, the thoughts your mind runs with, all the scenarios you’re terrified of and nothing to stifle them down… until someone like you guys comes along, for no other purpose but to give answers. I’d give almost anything except another life, to get the answers I seek in my Chelsea’s death (and my other friend Matt) I fear it will never come and you know how many families you helped that thought the same?

...I am so sorry for your loss and I can't imagine how horrible it must feel but I DO know someone who can quiet your fear and worry. His name is Jesus and He said a few things I'd to share with you, because the truth will be revealed 100% and there will be justice: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30) "Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops......And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." (Matt 10:26-31) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.... (Revelation 21:3-7)

I do think they should start to build a network with companies like AWP so they can call in immediate assistance to search for missing people who fit a set of criteria (I.e. missing with car). It's expensive for the police to get the equipment and then there's using it enough to become experts with it.

Back in the day when my daughter was a 3yr old, I took her with me to a dept store. Young & dumb me became distracted looking at clothes on a circular rack while my daughter crawled underneath the rack, hidden by the clothing. When I went to get her, she was gone! I ran everywhere looking for her, alk 3 levels of that store and was afraid to go out any door to search the parking lot for fear that someone would take her out a door on opposite side of the store. BEGGED a security guard to lock all doors and he just shook his head no, wouldn't call police, or help me look for her. I ran back to area of that clothing rack and a little old lady came up to me and asked if I was looking for a little girl, said she was in the shoe dept. Ran there and my kid was climbing a wall that had shelves for shoes. That woman was an angel. Nowadays the stores would do a missing child lockdown alert. I've never been able to describe the sheer panic and frantic sense of hopeless of a missing loved one. Thankful this gentleman's family finally has some closure.

This is so sad because my brother had mental problems. He was a trucker when he had a mental breakdown and was diagnosed as schizophrenic. He had his license revoked and never drove again. He was 28 when this happened and a husband and father to three small children. I am so glad y’all found him. Certain groups of people I get really emotional about, people with mental issues, physically handicap, very young children, and very old children.

Indeed Miss.M.L., these amazing people who give so much of themselves deserve all the credit due to them. They take us through the range of their own emotions, from identifying a different car to finding the one they were searching for. They explain their theories and processes so well too, and work so well off their gut instincts in many cases. Everything done with compassion and care. I too feel so emotional when I see the car being raised from the water, and despite not being religious, I say aloud-"You're home sister/brother", as the crew make me feel I knew the person in some way. May they all rest in peace, those home, and those still to come.

@Angela they mentioned he had amnesia and schizophrenia. Often with that (dementia as well) people become disoriented. They also mentioned there was no barrier on the road back then, so one could easily just drive straight into the water thinking the road continues, if disoriented. They said it seems purely accidental but more likely caused by his amensia/schizophrenia, hence the mental health comments.

You and me both. So many AWP cases involve infirm people. No telling how many other accidents are caused by people who shouldn't be on the road. No doubt this adds to the frustration and heartbreak. I've had long haul COVID for 2 years. For close to 18 months, I was too sick and weak to walk out to my car, much less DRIVE. I've improved enough to drive short distances but it wears me out. Last month I had to make a 60 mile round trip due to an emergency, but it was very dangerous and I slept for several days after. I absolutely despise being dependent on others (mostly my saint of a husband) for everything. It is miserable to not have my independence, but in this situation I had no choice. I've realized that my safety and that of others comes first. I'm slowly improving but I don't have any guarantees that I'll be back to my pre COVID strength.....not for lack of trying!
