The fact that they find these victims almost always within a 5 mile radius makes me question how hard the police looked. I only just discovered this channel yesterday. But as I watched more I began to realize that I very nearly became one of these lost people. I used to live in Pensacola, FL, and I used to drive over the route 90 bridge every day to get to work. At that time I was suffering from severe depression, living in an abusive house I developed suicidal thoughts. Every day when I drove to work, I thought "Would anyone find me if I just drove off the bridge into the river at 4 in the morning?" If you know anything about Pensacola, you know there's hundreds of boat ramps everywhere. Almost every night, late at night, I left the house just to go sit at a boat ramp, contemplating if I should just put the car in drive into the water and sink. I dealt with this for almost 2 years before I finally left to a different state. Now that I am discovering this channel, it makes me think: If I had done it, would I have ever been found? Would I have been another lost person? Luckily I will never know because I am in a much better mind state than I was over a year ago, and I have healed and sought help. If you ever find yourself in the same position I was in, don't do it. You are loved and people will want to find you alive and safe.

It’s usually the families or some volunteer organization that leads the charge and notify the law after they have done most of the grunt work. ...I am so sorry for your loss and I can't imagine how horrible it must feel but I DO know someone who can quiet your fear and worry. His name is Jesus and He said a few things I'd to share with you, because the truth will be revealed 100% and there will be justice: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30) "Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops......And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." (Matt 10:26-31) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.... (Revelation 21:3-7)

@Chief Sitting Nigga (We wuz natives!) It doesn't do harm, to the dead. It gives the living, closure. Technically, you are correct: people do let their imagination scare themselves, when told someone was killed in a house. But if they have no idea that they were killed in the house, then they are fine. My mom died peacefully, in her hospital bed, with all 8 of her children singing, in my arms. In her bedroom, at home. No violence, only love 💕. My sister is sleeping in her own bed in there, until it sells. We have no ghosts, no haunting, whatsoever.

Back in the day when my daughter was a 3yr old, I took her with me to a dept store. Young & dumb me became distracted looking at clothes on a circular rack while my daughter crawled underneath the rack, hidden by the clothing. When I went to get her, she was gone! I ran everywhere looking for her, alk 3 levels of that store and was afraid to go out any door to search the parking lot for fear that someone would take her out a door on opposite side of the store. BEGGED a security guard to lock all doors and he just shook his head no, wouldn't call police, or help me look for her. I ran back to area of that clothing rack and a little old lady came up to me and asked if I was looking for a little girl, said she was in the shoe dept. Ran there and my kid was climbing a wall that had shelves for shoes. That woman was an angel. Nowadays the stores would do a missing child lockdown alert. I've never been able to describe the sheer panic and frantic sense of hopeless of a missing loved one. Thankful this gentleman's family finally has some closure.

@Angela they mentioned he had amnesia and schizophrenia. Often with that (dementia as well) people become disoriented. They also mentioned there was no barrier on the road back then, so one could easily just drive straight into the water thinking the road continues, if disoriented. They said it seems purely accidental but more likely caused by his amensia/schizophrenia, hence the mental health comments.

It's difficult for a lot of people to give up their independence, I think. Coupled with America's bad public transportation infrastructure... it's sad.

It's difficult to give up independence. You say the things you say now, but if God blesses you to reach an advanced age, let's see how you feel then. Try some sensitivity & class.

You and me both. So many AWP cases involve infirm people. No telling how many other accidents are caused by people who shouldn't be on the road. No doubt this adds to the frustration and heartbreak. I've had long haul COVID for 2 years. For close to 18 months, I was too sick and weak to walk out to my car, much less DRIVE. I've improved enough to drive short distances but it wears me out. Last month I had to make a 60 mile round trip due to an emergency, but it was very dangerous and I slept for several days after. I absolutely despise being dependent on others (mostly my saint of a husband) for everything. It is miserable to not have my independence, but in this situation I had no choice. I've realized that my safety and that of others comes first. I'm slowly improving but I don't have any guarantees that I'll be back to my pre COVID strength.....not for lack of trying!

This touches my heart. Anyone who does not believe there is a God, should watch these men do what they do. This is more than a love. This is more than helping. This is more than answering questions. This is PURPOSE!

I live about 45 minutes from Winston Salem, NC. Thank you for what you have done for Mr. Smith & his family. Such a sad case, missing all that time & his family doesn't know where he is or what happened to him. But now maybe some closure & peace will be with his family. Dedrick has finally come home. God Bless everyone involved with this effort to find this young man.

@@scorpio54williams96 I'm glad it's not just me. The sadness of seeing someone below the water encased and hidden from loved ones is painful to me. Especially for so long. I think I also think of their fear and helplessness before their demise as well. It makes me much more cautious around flooding and bodies of water. Many blessings to you Scorpio54williams.

Doug, again you have my upmost respect. You are truly a man deserving of this, you have grown so much, I am a mom and if this was my son missing I would only trust you and the team to search for my son. Also as a mom, if you were my son I would be so proud of you. Jared is awesome and has put you in a position to get this information out and you do it professionally and also you show your humility, kindness and love for your fellow man. Thank you all at Adventure's With Purpose, we feel like we are there with you !!!!

I must second what a lot of people have said previously; the visuals, cinematography, music score, history, research, dedication, knowledge, expertise, respect, due diligence… all this and more done on this investigation, like all others - it is apparent you guys are passionate about helping families get answers and the closure they need. Thank you sincerely, to the entire AWP team. Your purpose is beautiful, scary and necessary. Please, I pray you take time for yourselves, rest well when you can, and stay safe. We pray for y’all. Sending so much love and light your way.

This broke my heart! 16 years a Mother, Father and family have wondered what happened to their son! Probably thinking something worse happened to him when he wasnt found. With no trace of his vehicle or his body. I can only imagine what they were going through!! Much respect to the Team that identified his car and gave the family an opportunity to lay their loved one to rest!! But I have to doubt the competence of the law enforcement agencie 16 years ago, why didnt they think to check these watering holes? That would have been the first place I would have searched!
