We used to go fishing on the falls of Ohio. Excellent fishing.

West of there, they’re developing a great people trail, by the Clark Cabin. Plan is to link to New Albany

If ya go in August make sure to wear a wide brimed hat and have plenty of water. Got soo hot out there you could cook an egg on those ancient fossils!

I’m an admitted mild weather hiker, avoiding oppressive heat, snake and tick season if I can! I’ve been miserable lots of years, and have decided to do something else than hike, from about mid May to mid September. 😀

I have been to Louisville before and had seen this are of the river but I had no idea what I was looking at. I grew up on the Ohio and still live close to the Ohio but I'm in the upper Ohio River Valley not far from Pittsburgh. the river is only about 1/4 mile wide up here in this slightly narrow valley. There are obviously some wide areas but not anything like it is down in that area.

I can’t recall how wide the river was before engineers installed the locks, but it got a lot wider after they did, making it the widest stretch along the Ohio River. I’ve traveled along the entire Indiana stretch of the Ohio River, from Lawrenceburg, just south of Cincinnati, to Mount Vernon, where it merges with the Wabash and travels south. Some places are so narrow that you could bat a baseball and hit the other side.
