I'll play devil's advocate for the credit card tool. I've had one in my wallet for quite a while. Mostly use it for the bottle opener, which is pretty darn good, and the can open worked well too on the handful of occasions that I've used it. Haven't really put the knife to use beyond splitting the tape on a few boxes, because I always have a victorinox classic in my pocket, but if nothing else you could use it as a striker for a ferro rod. Now before you let that sell you on the idea of adding one to your wallet, you should note that a lot of the newer ones I've seen have a saw blade on the edge. Avoid that. It'll shred your wallet quite nicely, but it's too short to be of any use on wood, and it will make using the can opener virtually impossible unless you're wearing thick gloves.

The openers are the most useful and if it’s all you got than it’s very useful. Thanks for watching…. My wallet will stay credit card tool free though.

I've tried a number of low cost pocket saws (6 or 7) from Amazon/China that are similar to the Silky. Of course they all fall short to various degrees,BUT.... all of them where better than a wire saw, in practice, but aren't as light or compact and were a third of the cost. Depends on what you're trying to accomplish with a kit like this. The best value in pocket saws used to be the mini Sierra saw by Couglans. It's made of cheap light plastic and is the size of a large pocket knife, but it's very light, has a very sharp blade architecture that mimics a Japanese flush cutting saw and was once under $5. Now they are nearly double that, when you can find them. They were perfect for a medium sized kit like this and it was a tool that you wouldn't cry over too much if some a-hole stole the pack out of your car. I think those "eggs" are actually very small slip floats that do match up well with tiny hooks and super small sinkers like the ones provided. The problem for me is that most of the stuff in this kit is just too minimal for the room that you have in the pack. For the most part, that's pocket survival kit gear, stuff you wouldn't really need to survive (carabiners?) and a sack of air.
@AdventureswithSpackmann3 ай бұрын
Oh snap the eggs could be floats! Didn’t think of that. The Couglans saw is a great option indeed. And correct, most of it you don’t need but I’ve used a carabiner to make eyes on a fishing pole. So they may have a use when found with nothing else. Thanks for watching

@AdventureswithSpackmann3 ай бұрын
Heck yeah! Glad I could put a smile on your face. Thanks for watching
@Mike-rx3mn3 ай бұрын
Yeah, the second whistle needs a piece of orange paracord to make a lanyard to hang around your neck and help you find it if you drop it, the multitool looks cheap, I would replace it with a Gerber or Leatherman, but that would raise the cost and defeat the Idea of a cheap survival pack when the multitool is worth more than all the other items, also the bottle holder works on smaller bottles and if you have a Sawyer Squeeze you can put water straight into the bottle, so now it costs between100 to 200 dollars, sorry just what I did. Better to find out at home testing your knife spoon set and have it fail, rather than in the woods, seatbelt cutters are also great for cutting paracord, and the hatchet looked like the best item in the kit, I would replace the shovel with a plastic garden trowel, it's lighter and you can still dig holes for fire or to relieve yourself. Sorry for the long comment, I was told KZbinrs get more points? if you hit like and comment, but not how long the comment should be, so sorry about my opinions or the rambling, next one will be shorter, good video, not sure about your snarky cameraman, helpful, thanks
@AdventureswithSpackmann3 ай бұрын
Make them as long as you want. I like the interaction. And of course it does help. Replacing the shovel is a great idea. Garden trowel is a good replacement for sure. A leatherman would be fantastic but like you said, raises the cost above the whole kit lol. Still not a fan of the bottle holder but if you include the squeeze, I can see its functionality. Thanks for watching

@jacyo3076 Are you kidding???.. Coffee IS the most important part of anything that I do in life without a doubt.... Who needs a bottle opener - screw the bottle opener - just give me some coffee... Coffee is not just the best part of waking up, but the best part of every minute of every day - all day... 😄😄😄

@@AdventureswithSpackmann Yes, I am a coffee lover too, just a cup of coffee and I am a friend for life. I would die for anyone who offered me a cup of coffee for sure without a doubt, and I don't mean maybe - I live for coffee, and coffee lives for me - or at least I like to think so 🤣🤣 oh, and great video Spackmann, and it was nice seeing the videographer again... Hey, this kit would be great to replace each item with a much better version over time, so eventually you would have a great kit with a much better spoon 😉, but wait a minute, then I guess you would have several hundred dollars into it by the end of replacification - ooops - is that a word???...

No small hatchet in any of the kits not good

It’s not bad for it being in a kit. It would definitely help build something or get a fire going in a pinch.

I really don't understand what people expect from a cheap kit. My advice buy a good firstaid kit. Then add aspirin, Imodium, water purification tablets. As far as survival make a list like ten-Cs. Then buy cheap but useful gear. 1. Cutting Tool · 2. Combustion Device · 3. Cover · 4. Container · 5. Cordage · 6. Cotton Bandannas · 7. Cargo Tape · 8. Compass. You save money by get stuff that will last forever. Many ultra light backpackers fall into the ive hiked and i never used it i don't need it. Until you do. People nowadays don't understand your not a quick hop to the store. Nobody will come and save you. Even if you have the fancy high tech gear they have to find you. Most will never need this but the one that does. This could be what saves you or a friend.

Would the p.o.s. card thing work as a ferro rod striker?

People have mentioned that but I found it kinda uncomfortable to use as a striker. Thanks for watching
