I will add a caution.... 1. The spork is potentially dangerous. If you are not careful, you can cut your hand badly on the blade as you remove the handle. 2. The bellows is incredibly dangerous. If you accidentally inhale before fully removing it from near a fire, you can inhale embers and burn your lungs, a fatal sitch when in survival mode...learn to build a fire correctly and you won't need a bellows in the first place. 3. A first aid kit of some sort is a must-have.

I mean that’s the same with any fixed blade knife with a sheath right? And good call on the bellow, inhaling after blowing is not good. And first aid is a must too. Thanks for watching
@CowboySurvival5 ай бұрын
@@AdventureswithSpackmann the problem with the spork is that it not obvious that there is a knife in that handle. The danger is present for anyone who is not familiar with particular kind of spork. If your finger extends over the handle at all, you can cut through the tendon really quickly. In a survival sitch.....that could be a disaster. Better just a plain old long-handled spoon. The Ozark Trail kit has an identical spork but with a different colored handle.

The water tight (it is gasketed, correct?) case is nice. My family would gravitate toward a stainless steel metal tin to hold all the kit contents. I am retired in the tropics . Trust me on this, while we have a lot of water sources, all of it needs treatment. The metal tin will boil water and cook food, along with one or two plastic water bags to contain treated water, chemical treatment tablets and a few coffee sachets, tea bags and bullion cubes would round out the kits. A bug net and some repellent to keep our malaria and dengue fever carrying skeeters a safe distance away would also be a huge plus.

If you put the rock in the fire to heat it up stay away from the fire till you are ready to pull the rock out. Hey Spack, when your riding your bike, try to keep your feet level, and try to stand up and keep your weight balanced over or behind your seat, especially when going down stairs and other fun stuff. when you keep your feet level it makes your balance better and will help with clearance and not to catch a pedal on a rock. coming from someone who mountain bikes regularly. it feels odd at first but its much better. and i always recommend a brain bucket, you only have one brain, so protecting it with a helmet is paramount.

I highly doubt that can be a better kit than the one you put together yourself. Yes, it will be more expensive, but you should invest in quality if we are talking about your life I believe.

@@AdventureswithSpackmannI got it! People buy a kit and don't know what to expect because there is no standardized measure! If it was something like the standards in fire extinguishers A, B, C, D, E+ people would easily know what to expect from a survival kit. Perhaps if we talk enough about it could we promote a standardation of shorts?

For $30 bucks I'd definitely take it over nothing and over alot of similar priced kits. I do think it's odd to review a survival kit after riding your e-bike down a trail so tou can fly your drone, maybe that's my age or where my survival training comes from but it is KZbin afterall

those rambo style knives break way to easy, better off using the 10 dollars on the machete or a saw if they have something viable there for a kit. even the more expensive rambo knives just break where the blade connects to the hollow handle. the only hollow handle knives i seen done well are the cold steel bushman which is all one piece the handle is then rolled and forge welded at the seam. the other is one where it is all a solid piece of steel and the handle is made round to size and then they drill a hold for storage, but not to deep. even a morakniv will out perform any rambo knife.
@AdventureswithSpackmann5 ай бұрын
I agree. Sorry if I said it was a viable survival tool. I simply meant it’s cool. I would trust it to survive with. But for $10 I think it’s cool. The cold steel bushman is a sweet knife. Thanks for watching
@firearmssanctuary24485 ай бұрын
@@AdventureswithSpackmann trade medium, and could always break it and use pine pitch and paracord to use the blade to make a spear. so if already have it, or it is the only thing on the shelf as you are heading into a situation then ya better then nothing. even if you learn how to knap stone tools that process takes hours, especially if you don't have the tools for it with you. so ya not something to proactively go for, but if no other option would be better to have it then nothing. sure i carry a leatherman always, but that is not gonna take abuse, but will work great for fine work. something else to consider is get a wood sawzall blade and go at it with a metal file or grinder (dip in water often to avoid damaging the tempor) put edge on the back side, put a paracord wrap on the handle. then you got a knife with a saw on the back.

Good video thanks for posting this. The Gordon 11 and 1/4" machete for $19.99 as of 6/2024 doesn't have a survival kit, though it seems a little more reliable. Though Rambo knives are good, I would definitely put some locktite and epoxy in the handle, before sealing it up.

The credit card tool is the only thing ki the kit that has a can opener. If you get rid of the credit card tool you need to provide a can opener. Yes. I have one of these: Concerning the Harbor Freight survival/Rambo type knife if you remove the set screw and pull the blade out and remove the plastic spacer inside and degrease the inside and blade end with brake cleaner. After that you can fill it with your favorite durable epoxy shove the blade back in and insert the set screw and tighten that up and wipe off the excess epoxy that squeezed out and your blade will likely never come loose again. The saw teeth don't work well, and I have not figured out a way to make the teeth work better.
@AdventureswithSpackmann4 ай бұрын
