I’m watering my garden with rain water that I collect in barrels and have an abundance of veggies growing big here. Then I can all my veggies and eat some fresh vegetables all summer and I also have a pear tree and make my own homemade jams and jellies

Recently retired i would say that my goal is not necessarily going off grid although we do burn wood all winter for heat, it is more like being more self reliant, I used to have someone come to the house and clean my windows. Now for the last two days I have been cleaning my own windows. We did increase the garden size by 50 % this year adding winter squash or spaghetti squash, a plot of potatoes and a plot of walla walla sweet onions. I do all my own car repairs and maintenance instead of paying a fortune having others do it. Last week I repaired my 6 hp wheeled whipper snipper. Had to view a lot of Utube videos to figure these things out. Hey if you ever wanted to know how to catch really big salmon without losing them , it took me a long time to learn that too. Let me know and I can come up and show you a few things. The trick is in the type of hook , the type of knot , the length of leader , the type of flasher , the depth to fish at, and the speed to troll . Looking for fun things to do this summer, without being a bother. My best friend drowned this spring on April 11 in Nanaimo harbour. So trying to stay active as not trying to think about that

About to sell our home and buy land with another family!

Just bought a chunk of land in Patagonia with my wife which I am starting to develop.. I've got loads of fresh water which I can drink directly from the stream, a number of forested hectares for firewood and building projects, fenced areas and a barn for raising animals and im just now starting to plant fruit trees and getting the garden area set up (we're still in winter now so it's tree planting time but not gardening time yet). We also have a little cabin with solar panels set up.. This has been a goal of mine for 15 odd years and I'm finally starting the journey to freedom living off grid.. couldn't be happier!

Yes, I plan to do an episode to talk about what we did to transition from living the “normal” life to beginning the process on our land. Jake and Nicole if you read this I would love to have you guys out as a consultant. I’ve been watching for about 2-3 years, I couldn’t pay you much but I could get you here and house you for a bit in exchange for your advice. Anyways I got the bunkie cabins from sawmill structures in Ontario and we get it in the end of august and the yurt comes around Christmas. Love the content! This was fabulous, I felt like I was there. I was raised off-grid in Colorado on 320 acres, no indoor plumbing, wood cook-stove, Coal Furnace, two gardens. One was flowers, the other was vegetables. Natural Spring, in a Spring House, all kinds of wild herbs, fruits, and a creek with Trout in it! Yes, it was an amazing place, at the edge of the Rockies!
