And you're seeing just the harvest. So many steps in crop farming people don't ever see: preparing the soil in the spring, the planting, spraying or cultivating, etc. And praying for rain, of course.

I’m a travel nurse and had a contract in Grand Forks ND a few years ago. One thing I learned very quickly is if a farmer voluntarily came into the ER, everyone immediately ran to evaluate because farmers are so STOIC that by the time they decide to come in to the hospital or call EMS, they are hanging onto this life by a fine thread. Very tough folks, don’t say a whole lot, but ALWAYS say “Thank You.” Great people! ❤️

I just started full time nomad life in April 2024. Just finished my first beet harvest for American Crystal as a sample taker/ground crew, on the night shift at the Oslo receiving station. I thought it was actually kinda fun. It was certainly a new and interesting experience. I plan to go back next year. Your excellent video from 2020 was very helpful in letting me know what to expect. Thanks Brian. Be well and keep up the good work!

Eye opening video. You just never realize how much work goes into harvesting crops. For the most part, people just take it for granted when they purchase a bag/box of beans, etc. from the store. Seeing all the equipment and manpower, etc. required to do this work explains a bit why prices are so high.

I grew up on a cattle-feeding farm operation in Northeast Nebraska that grew oats, alfalfa,and corn to feed the cattle that were shipped out at 1300-1400 lbs to the packing plants, where the meat ultimately was sold in grocery stores and prepared in restaurants. Soybeans were a cash crop. There was always something to do, year round, hardly any down time. If there was down time, we rested. It was my Dad's calling, and we just laid him to rest a month ago. My brother and wife, their daughter and son in law carry on the business. It's a good life, indeed.

Though I’m a Montana resident, I’ve been pheasant hunting in N Dakota for many years. First near Regent & Hettinger, and more recently near Crosby. In Crosby we are able to stay a few days in the old original farmhouse (maybe 800 sq ft) on the farm where we hunt. They keep their grounds and buildings in very clean and organized condition, similar to the farm where you work. We didn’t have much luck this year, since the farmer planted canola, which pheasants don’t really eat. Enjoyed the video.
@twochickens395427 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for all the farm footage. I lived on a farm as a small child, and my sister grew up to marry a dairy farmer. My other brother in law (not a farmer) had to do the silo climbing thing one time. It’s been around 20 years since, but he still talks about what a scary job it was. It was one of those tall corn silage type not the shorter grain bin type. My story is one particularly cold Christmas no one would help with the milking on Christmas except me. So there I am scraping cow flaps and putting out fresh hay on Christmas morning . 😂 I call it farm time fun. Thanks for another excellent video and for just being a nice person. 🤜🤛

Hello Brian. I’ve heard of nomads working the beet harvest but hadn’t seen any videos describing much. That actually looks like a pretty good gig. It’s farming so no 9-5 for sure but at 12 hrs +/- a day I’m sure that 30 days flew by. Another channel I follow, Big Blue Hauler, husband and wife, I think they worked the piler at a facility. I seriously could have sat through another hour of this content. Thanks for sharing your life with us sir.
