Isn't it cool that, like Lovecraft, Wells followed the latest scientific advances keenly & incorporated the current knowledge into his stories? Here is his short riff on "The Time Machine" concept filled with rather accurate descriptions of the deep sea as it was known in the 19th century. One of the many reasons to admire & respect this author as truly writing "science fiction." Thank you for the fine narration, Mr S.

I think there's a famous Frank R Paul cover for Amazing Stories depicting this story.
