I am not in the " All adverbs are evil." camp. As you have pointed out yourself, in dialogue people use adverbs a as part of speech. I think that it would make our writing unrealistic if we don't recognise that as a factor. Maybe in our exposition, we should be careful to replace adverbs but not in dialogue. I write Middle Grade and Children, who are more emphatic than adults , use adverbs often in their speech I wouldn't like to be limited because of the great commandment, !Thou shalt not use adverbs" There is a time and a place for them. We ned to use discernment to work out when they are appropriate,

I am always mindful of ly and ing words. I do my best to eradicate them. Show, don't tell is the best advice. I believe one adverb per three hundred words is more than enough.
