The whole experimenting in your 20s is a great idea as long as there are some fundamentals in place. Enough savings to keep you afloat when you don’t have an income, a rough overarching goal you’re trying to achieve and, most importantly, a healthy mind which doesn’t fall into the comparison trap. Everyone knows comparing yourself to other ‘successful’ people is wrong deep down but we all do it it’s genuinely ingrained in us. That is the hardest thing to conquer for me.
@studywithme4442 жыл бұрын
The comparison trap is a difficult cycle to get out of once you are in it. I’m glad you pointed out the fundamentals - I think they are important to consider before diving head first into anything!

@Malachi Rowe yeah tbf maybe some people have the capacity to experiment without having any backup or support behind them but I certainly don’t have that and some people can get caught in the all or nothing trap

I love this! As someone who's in their 20s who has experimented with their career A LOT and who doesn't have a regular "job"-- I can attest that having your health (financial, mental, and physical) in place makes a big difference. Gives you a stronger base from which to jump off from.
@annabella37552 жыл бұрын
Having a healthy mind is by far the most important thing. I'm trying to change my mindset going into my twenties to chill out and let myself find my path without comparing to everyone else my age that is more successful.
@alladinmelico84582 жыл бұрын
If you're living in a poor household, there's no room for messing around. When you're family depends on you right after you graduate, experimenting is insanity. You have to have a job whatever the fck that is or else you'll starve to death. You can't do much if you're on survival mode and financially unstable. Get a job even if you don't like it while saving some money. If your savings is enough to cover months of expenses then take that experimentation thingy.

This video helped me quite a bit. As a 20 year old man, I often fear what my life is going to be like in the next 10 years time and if I'll be in a dead-end job that I hate with no money. I reckon there are a lot of people my age who don't know what direction to take in thier lives or feel as though they're at a stalemate.

I wish I'd known this earlier: I didn't start experimenting until last year when I was 27 and already my life has improved, new opportunities are landing. I've still got my Consulting career but I've learnt there's more than one way to 'set yourself up for success' and more than one way to define 'success'. Excited to keep following the path

I definitely agree with experimenting where possible but also in low risk ways before launching fully into new paths. Both Ali and Hannah went into KZbin full time only after doing it for a while and realising there was great potential in it for them. I think the more you try it out the better you'll be able to gauge if it's for you. I'm enjoying creating videos and uploading them on KZbin. I'm slowly working my way to the point where I could confidently do it full time if I chose to.

@@AbdussalamPopoola yeah I know it can be hard. There is no problem on wanting to try out several things you like or that you think you’ll like, I’d say it is worse if you don’t have anything that you like. I’d say just try to find a good mix between something that you like, that you are reasonable good at (or that you can be good at it with time) and also that you think that you can make a living out of it. @thejorgemunoz2 жыл бұрын
@@allmypicturesofu for real? that's great! Not to plug myself haha but my little channel is all about aviation, mostly for student pilots, so you might get something useful from some of my videos if you check them out! But some quick tips are: 1. Enjoy your flight hours, you'll find yourself doing everything a lot better inside the cockpit if you are enjoying yourself, aviation is supposed to be happy! (of course, while been responsible. 2. Stealing from some Ali's videos, start making a bank of questions for yourself since day one, that will save you a lot of time for every time you'll need to remember something when doing the more advanced licenses and ratings (and believe me, there will be a lot of times you'll need to do that). If you ever need to ask for anything related to aviation in the future, I'll be glad to help you, hope you enjoy flight school :)

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, I like to experiment and was very much doing that for the last few years. But recently some mistakes and my neglect of certain other aspects of my career have caught up to me and have come back to bite me in the a$$. So that experimenting attitude didn't work out, at least speaking from where I am in life at the moment and I would advise anyone to be cautious because preparation is better than regret. Maybe in a few years' time, it won't be cause for regret and I'll be glad to have taken the time to experiment. Will have to wait and see. All I can do is not lose hope.

The only thing that I belive matters is asking "what's the WORST that could happen?" As long as no one will suffer from your shortcomings/failures, i say take high risks in your 20's for sure. I really resonate with not comparing yourself with others. When I started KZbin, I was scared, shy and doubtful. I overcame those and started to post regularly. When I did that, I started comparing myself to other creators. Learning: Mind is a machine and talks all the time. Its your responsibility to recognize the voice and your truth and be happy with your present self because if you really are true to yourself, you don’t need anything more than you have right now.
@Fatima.x5482 жыл бұрын
Is there anything you recommend to start taking control of self thought and confidence?
@dangeshubham2 жыл бұрын
My only recommendation through my experience is: Whenever your mind talks a lot, tries to put you down write down the situation on a paper in regards to your thoughts. Make two columns- Things you can control and things you cannot control. You gave your brain a good amount of clarity on what you can control and start working towards it. This will definitely help you control, direct and navigate your mind and when you put in the effort to work on things you can control, it boosts your confidence.

So yeah, disclaimer, don’t expect me to decide (right now)what super specialty I want to do afterwards. Maybe I will or maybe I won’t continue with medicine.” It is what it is 🤷♀️
@ZED2.02 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I've definitely done a lot of experimentation in my twenties but sometimes I ask myself whether it would have been better to have just stuck with medicine. I think only time will tell. But it's never too late to reinvent yourself, as long as you're still breathing you have another chance. And I love the idea of following older women, if I ever download instagram again I'll probably start doing this.

Being a content creator myself, I also sometimes feel if the 18yr old kids are gonna consider me ‘ancient’ since I am about to hit 30 and creating similar videos.🤣 Also the fact that how media glamorises kids starting a company in their 20s while people of all age brackets are founding startups. See, I'm in my early thirties. I was a mature student and I'm still early in my career for my age. So, while it's a little difficult for me to fully commit to saying it, I do think you have time to take risks and screw up. It's not a race per se, but life happens, time passes before you know it and suddenly the better part of a decade has gone by. So, do your own thing, provided you're actually doing something meaningful. Now, this will be different for each person's circumstances. There are a number of factors to consider. Ones I would consider are pension and income trajectory, perhaps home ownership. I wasn't earning for a long time and therefore had no pension. On the other hand, I am and expect to continue to earn good money, so it wasn't the end of the world for me. However, if that's not the case, you might want to be more careful.
