Worked with another Producer in my city, almost lived together, gave him food when he was broke worked together with almost 50 Rappers/Singers. He told every single one of them how bad I am, how sh!t my beats are. Now I am working with some of these Rappers and my former friend is beefing with half of the city
@red0ctane193 жыл бұрын
@@ThirtyOneKills You handled it the right way. Too many people in this world would go the revenge route. Makes both parties look bad. But when you let your work show the truth, you'll come out on top. While his energy went into putting you down to try to make himself look better, you were honing your craft and succeeding.

Mine was almost the opposite. Tried my hand at music many years ago. But I didn't put in the effort to learn. Just clicked random stuff in on FL 12. My best friend told me it was good. School got hectic and had to focus on graduation, then life got in the way. Picked up music again at the beginning of this year, 10 years later as it has always been my dream. Realized it could be reality. Started learning everything I could. A few months ago that same friend told me how much progress I've made and how trash those old beats were. I was like "Bro don't gas light me! You gotta tell me these things!" 😅 He just has too good of a heart to feel like he was putting me down. Now he is straight with me and tells me when it's not very good. In a helpful way, though. Lol.

I remember showing my music to some "friends" at school. I told them I was making beats & they wanted to hear. I played one of them & they listened for a bit then walked away. It hurt, but now I have stuff in my catalog that i'm proud of. Glad I kept going. Your videos are a great help. Thank you.

It's really rough especially in that initial phase where you already feel like a complete imposter going so far out of your comfort zone, that is, if you weren't participating in any other art. This is where I praise the people I hear disparaged the most in this discussion, and that's the people that support you no matter what. I have 2 friends that have ALWAYS been supportive, even when the beats I showed them were objectively horrible, they'd try their hardest to cherry pick at least one aspect that they don't hate all the way and then convey that. These are the people I hear referred to as "people who aren't being real with you" or whatever and sure maybe they weren't but they were doing something else that I think is crucial for somebody learning a new craft, and that's supplementing your courage. Courage to try and experiment and wade through the mud until you're at a place where you can make something halfway decent. Most people don't understand how far you can get at something you have no natural talent to speak of, the kind of benefits hard work and determination can bring in the absence of results to speak of, that kind of leap of faith takes a lot of courage and I think the people that tell you your beats are good when they're not fundamentally understand that concept. If my courage had been depleted by constant put-downs and negative feedback I'd have developed a complex around my craft that wouldn't allow me to grow to the beatmaker I am now. All this to say, cherish those people in your life that give you the room to grow without being unnecessarily critical. It's much healthier to see someone learning as a work in progress rather than a person who is shit at doing X, that's just being conclusive about a person's temporary state.

I had this experience. People talking behind my back about my beats being overproduced but never said it to me. They would tell my girl and she would tell me. People saying i was trash but one of my brothers came to me one day after i let him hear a beat CD with 19 beats and he said every beat I made was wack. Harsh reality hurts but once I healed, it made me stronger and forced me to improve. I wouldnt be where I am today without God having honest people in my life to keep it real.

This was great and informative video man and relatable.. My closest friend of years through thick and thin unfortunately belittles me and devalues my work ethic on a regular. I dont really have anyone else to share good news with so I usually share it with him. I work hard and sacrifice a lot of time and money on my passion so I like to celebrate little wins, you know. They mean a lot to me, even just getting an artist on my beats. But he usually finds a way to make me feel bad about it. Even makes fun of how much I make beats (it's a running joke for him). He says quality over quantity and I totally get that, but I need to practice and learn..how else do I get better right? This video deffinately gave me some relief. IMO this path were on can feel isolating. Its deff good to remember not to take other negative comments seriously and just keep that tunnel vision

Then I started lifting and after 5 years of hard training I had Zyzz type physique. Super shredded 8 pack thanks to my genetics and standing tall at 200cm. No mocking then. All complimenting my body , others get silent when I stand near them. Now I am the best discus thrower in my Country (Bulgaria) and I keep grinding hard. That was very inspiring & very relatable to any line of work in general it speaks universally to anyone that has put their heart & soul into anything. I feel that as a beginner there is only a small handful I’ll show my beats to that I know will either give me constructive criticism or they’ll compliment it if it’s good I know that the criticism isn’t as heavy anymore & they do say I’m improving. But I trust that small handful with my life though. I usually don’t care what people think or say but since I’m new to beat making Im still a little bit insecure but open to any criticism that’ll make me better at it!!! Usually my motto is “opinions are like assholes everyone has one & they’re all full of shit including mine, if your opinion ain’t paying my bills then then your opinions is of no value to me”!!!!!
