I trained at Rogers academy in London. It was funny, because sometimes he just walks past people rolling and says "relax".

Great advice as a 3 year blue belt anytime I get into my head that I “have” to beat this guy this round because of whatever reason I made in my head I do worse and get gassed holding onto things to long and fighting to much. Being confident in my jiu jitsu and trusting my skill knowing I don’t have to win exactly how I want I started flowing more and doing way better beating the people I wanted to beat.

Maintaining a relaxed pace really is the hardest thing in a roll.

I feel like when I try to relaxed and be slow, I get neon belly, my guard passed, or mounted 🥲

Neon belly is pretty bad but ultraviolet belly is even worse!

Slow during drilling, relaxed but fast during sparring. Not always relaxed though, you have to feel when you need to tighten up to explode.

Me to my professor, "I AM RELAXED!!!" It made me laugh when Roger casually mentioned it. Still on the long blue belt journey🤪

Relaxar durante um rola como white belt é extremamente dificil, mas quando vc consegue vc evolui muito mais, essa dica de fazer um rola mais solto e falado por todos os gracies.

The only correct advice for anyone learning martial arts is this: stop. Learn conflict management, call law enforcement, or carry a weapon (even a complete novice with a gun, knife, or mace can overtake the worlds finest martial artists).

A lot of people learn a martial art for the hobby and pursuit of a new life skill. I personally am more interested in the sport component than self-defense.

I just learn it to exercise, not because I want to fight people. It's more fun than lifting weights for example.

Lmao. James Ray. There is still hope for you yet. Your heads in a good place, but you clearly speak from a lack of experience. There is much dimensionality as to why would endeavor on a path of martial arts.
