Thank you so much for this. The advice on morale really hit the nail on the head for me. I’m going on my third week of buddy shifts and boy is it easy to put myself down with being corrected all the time. I tell myself the exact same phrases: “Man why did not not know that?!” “ Why did I mess that up?!” But you are right, mindset is everything. I need to start treating those mistakes as learning opportunities instead of beating myself up. I am being corrected because I NEED to be corrected. I need to remind myself that I am still learning and people expect me to screw up because I am a new grad in an intense environment. I was close to giving up and was really questioning why I chose ICU, but this video reminded me that I am here to learn, be more educated, grow professionally, and be a good nurse. Thanks again!!

Thank you for making this. Starting my first nursing job in a couple months and every time I try to find "tips for new nurses" types of content, I get inundated with so much crap from nurses trying to be influencers whose tips are crap like "don't forget your coffee." The realness of this video is very appreciated.

The way you speak to assertiveness and morale is incredibly beneficial! Please speak more to how to be assertive in a positive manner, boundaries, and handling self advocacy in times of higher acuity, ever increasing work expectations , and decreased staffing. You are so meeting the need for the Nursing profession! I have been in ICU for 20 out of 27 years of my career and I can’t get enough of your podcasts. Thank you.

you folks are true american heros! 💪🏻🇺🇸🙏. i'm not a nurse, but i've known and dated some, and did work in an ER many years ago, and saw what went on first hand. this advice is actually very useful for many professions, but is interesting to see applied in this specific, very challenging environment. what you're doing with your program helps ALL of us❣️

I'm starting my third block of clinicals in a couple days for gero and we will be in ICU. I'm concerned....I feel so unprepared. My first couple semesters of clinical were in med surg and I didnt have a lot of opportunities to learn skills I will need in ICU.
