Elder Proclu Nicău was a monk at the monastery of Sihăstria under the spiritual guidance of Elder Cleopas and Elder Paisie Olaru. He later, with the blessing of Elder Cleopas, lived in seclusion in a small hut on the edge of a village for decades; where he lived in asceticism so that he could grow closer to God.

On my first visit to Romania with my girlfriend, who had met him when she was a little girl, we went to Elder Proclu's grave in Sihastria Putni. Please forgive my spelling, I am learning Romanian but am an English convert. We prayed over his grave and did our evening prayer together in the church in the graveyard. When we had finished and left we walked out of the graveyard through this great wooden arch. As we passed under we stopped. Looked at each other. By Gods grace we had been permitted to smell the beautiful smell of Myrrh. Strong as if it was under our noses. We passed through the gate and in an instant the smell had vanished, replaced with typical scent of the pines and the cold mountain air. I pray we shall return again and may venerate this most holy man again. God's blessings to you all. Doamne ajuta.

I had the blessing to converse with him, listen and sit in his cell not long before he departed this life. I will always remember the ray of grace that permitted from him. Glory to Christ
