I am 32 and just hit that "what do I want to do with my life" because of depression and some other family factors. Never cared about my future enough, thought it was too late. Glad to learn how wrong I am. The more I watch and learn the more hope I have.

I did not expect a 6 year old video on this topic to be so insightful. I'm within a few years of playing masters and have played mpo and made a few bucks, but I made a big move in my life to make disc golf a more real central part of my own life and this advice hits.

Now, I only need to take all this advice and make it happen... as a 38 year old.

I’m 17 and have only been playing for about 7 months and have absolutely fallen in love with the sport. I’ve already played in 2 tournaments and am competing in the NADGT championship in October. Right now I have 2 jobs, my part time job at a warehouse, and disc golf. I love the video and the advice.

my little town just got a disc golf course... I wish they wouldve put it up ten years ago!

I will most certainly never be near the top best players and compete for real career kind of cash, but I love content creation and communication! I am hoping to one day establish a great disc golf channel based out of my local area, get way better at the sport and possibly even hold lessons, work with the City to get new/improved courses and maybe even become a big communications/events/content producer in disc golf clubs and leagues! I'm 26 and will be graduating come 2022, so hopefully if I make disc golf my "serious" hobby, running all these side hustles with my skills, it may translate into something like a full career down the road! Plus, I believe this sport is going to grow substantially! Player counts have sky-rocketed after COVID happened and I think especially up here in Canada, it is about to take off. Here's to hoping!

I'm 34 and been into many things in my life but disc golf is something I'm really into. Showing some promise for a guy who has maybe 10 rounds under his belt but been in martial arts and weightlifting most of my life so I think I have a good shot. If I can dial in my form a bit more I already throw about 270 on avg and have done over 315 several times. I'd love to be pro and make a nice side income don't need to be a 1050 boy but love to get into some money making. Anyway wanna play The Beast at Hallsboro, NC HMU I live 10 mins away and it's almost pro lvl with like a 4.7 on Udisc. To all those who dream keep going for it.

HIGHLY recommend his private lessons. He boils it down to a few key things to learn and make habit, and it has changed my game completely. Such a stellar guy, and a passionate teacher. If the average school teacher had 1/50th of his ability to instruct, the world would be a better place.

this seems like good advice regardless of what you plan to do in life.

Hey Scott, I'm 16 and I've been playing for 2 years, I'm ok I can beat some of the guys that have been playing for years that I throw with but I'm to nervous to play in tournament. My good friend just got a sponsorship with discraft. Where sounds I even start?

Great advice Scott - or at least it sounds like good advice! I would add a couple of things about the brand: be acutely aware of the actual cost of every branded item. Create a unique disc golf persona for yourself: Like Feldbeard... Sockibomb... Blue Hair... Sexy... You wanna be "That guy who [_________]" where the blank is something weird, but not bad - like Nikko's brand; "Meltdown" :P As for myself, I am "That rude old guy from New Zealand". :)
@arudolph228 жыл бұрын
I agree with your idea of branding, but to slightly disagree with the esteemed Chris Davies (from the lovely country of NZ), Nikko's brand is highly effective. He has those who dislike him, but his fans are more passionate for him than the fans of other pros. And his brand is "passion." The meltdowns stem from passion; they are not his sole identifying characteristic.

Disc golf is a great sport! It really is! If you are not finishing as the best player in your league though, Look for a different career.

Or persevere and continue growing and working on your skills and not give up because because your not the absolute best player in the world 😂

Think about a product that the sport could use or put a new spin on an existing thing to sell. does not have to be from winnings. Get creative, make the next big idea,
