Before I converted to Islam I was on the fence about Israel. I wasn't educated but was open to it. Once I was working as a valet and didn't know that on this one particular day, some Israeli politician came to our city for a meeting and I was parking cars for attendees of various kinds, some Jews. A few young Muslim kids showed up to protest at one point, when I learned what was going on. They held a sign up about how he's a murderer or something and it actually left me interested in learning more and open minded to it. But then one just furiously, red-faced, stepped forth screaming the takbir at us. The girl next to him clearly looked embarrassed, though, at his behavior. I instantly was so disturbed I changed my mind. Nobody heard that except one Jewish lady walking in and a bunch of random poor Americans working valet for an event they didn't even know about. This Jewish woman who was walking in asked me and my coworker, "do you guys support Israel?" My coworker actually said, "hm, I don't know." He was also on the fence. But after that screaming protestor, I said "oh yes! Yes I certainly am!" She smiled happily and walked in. I later read Jimmy Carter's book about Palestine and Alison Weir's and have been very anti-Zionist ever since. The lesson here, though, is key: Be really careful how you behave, because you can easily lose millions of people supporting you from erratic behavior, even if you are on the right. Be careful, my brothers and sisters. Get educated first and focus on using your hearts and 'aql properly to convince people with good adab. Don't transgress. Don't let emotions take you, or you're just getting a ton of nafs and nobody wants to see that. The nafs doesn't really help, it usually just makes mistakes.

Muslims today rarely follow the Prophetic character in dealing with injustice or in their daily lives. At the same time, the man did Takbeer to maybe refrain from using antisemitic slurs, etc. I understand the fear of takbir in the west, but in terms of meaning, it is not offensive to the jews at all, it simply means that God is the greatest. However, it is only apt for Muslims to live within the cultural norms of the region they live in and the man is not portraying the characteristic of our dear Prophet PBUH who did not raise his voice even in the market.

Sheikh is wise. He is reminding us that things will not turn out as we wish and when we wish just because our enemy is evil. Victory will come when Allah wills it. It’s possible that Palestine may suffer 75 more years. Some people choose to fight and others choose to live without their full rights, and we cannot blame either.

@@NewtralHuman There's an interesting perspective about the battle of Uhud, where the Prophet PBUH wanted to fight from within the city of Madinah because that would give them advantage but his idea was outnumbered by the sahabah's more optimistic idea of going to war on the battlefield and he accepted their decision. There are many ways to do war. We need to win the war, not the battle.

@@islamanimated The biological truth is that predators can stop only when they meet resistance. The religious truth of Christianity is that we should not fight against human being but against the evil spirit and only one distinguishing feature to differ from the evil spirit we can have and this is humility according to the story about Satan that has not got it. I am a yong woman from Russia. The first time I saw news broadcast via TV about killed parent of a child and the video was shoted from helicopter in 1990 may be. Now I feel like if only I have the weapon and could I would come to Palestine Gaza to meet snipers from Israel who kill pieceful citizens. I remember the history of the USSR resistance against nazi. I do not understand arabs who do not offer to take all the Palestinians from that hell on the Earth and to let Israel have the empty territory that they want. I do not understand Lebanese who let the Palestinians live in Beirut like in getto and not like other citizens of Lebanon during last 70 years. As my Syrian friend يقظان رحمه الله said in Russian language: something is not right in this world...

@@islamanimated : Stop confusing the issue. The Palestinians are calling out to Allah and to us to do something to help. And we, not Shaikh Hamza Yusuf, are actually doing whatever we can by calling out and demanding Israel's genocide to a hearing at the International Court of Justice. @rosiebegum405 : If it was anyone who took anything out of context, it was Shaikh Hamza Yusuf indeed! He as usual, abandons the oppressed with his ambiguous philosophy in which he conflates patience with proactively asking for help from Allah and humans. Eventually he effectively attempts to appeal to the public spotlight and sympathy toward himself. The majority of the world has spoken and called out clearly. But something apparently prevents Shaikh Hamza Yusuf from speaking unambiguously. What is it? Ahhh! Go read up on cover narcissists and you will find out.

His wording is rather vague. Is he delegitimising the armed resistance or just praising the unarmed resilience shown by those support armed resistance but don’t take part in it ? This distinction is crucial to understanding the basis of this seemingly strange stance from the Shk.

You see, the majority of the world does not play word games, like this covert narcissist. He did the same in his claims against African Amaricans with respect to Police brutality in the USA. This is how Shaikh Hamza Yusuf is. He always wants to be at the center of attention in feigning to be humble. He is a covert narcissist word-smith class act! And then you have Shaikh Hamza Yusuf's cult following who don't know how to think critically, and give him a pass regardless of how many times his puts his foot in this mouth. For a change he needs to practice what he preaches.

And you drank the cool aid and took the bait. The majority of the world has called out clearly in the issue of Palestinians. You are attempting to defend the indefensible deliberate ambiguity! Perhaps your title should be advice on Palestine not ‘to’. It is the Palestinians who are being blown up to pieces, watching their children burn or get shot in the head while still being steadfast with their eman who are the ones teaching us lessons. Shaykh Omar Suleiman gave a much more concise and prudent message at the same event, RIS 2023
