While traveling, the thing I found to be most useful is using resistance bands. You can stack up several of them and reach several hundred pounds of resistance at lockout. Combine that with the calisthenics and you got a solid progression and exercise selection.
@waltherwagner97116 жыл бұрын
Rings and calisthenics are definetly the way to go. For example: Australian pullups, pullups, pushups dips. Archer pullups/pushups, one arm pullups/pushups, muscle ups, pistols, weighted pistols. Bands are also great to train smaller muscles like your external rotator. AND: natural strongman exercises, for example deadlifting or carrying heavy stones If you have access during your travel. The advantage is that you can do them everywhere and be very consistant in your trianing.

In the hotel room, I used to alternate between "hotel barb" (30pushups/40situps/50squatsx5rds for time) and a heavier/much lower rep day with pistols/handstand pushups and burpees all in the confines of a hotel room; then strap on the running shoes and jog around the neighborhood to check out new surroundings; and if I was lucky, I sometimes found a spot to do pullups at a playground or something...

Jocko could you make a workout video pls?

I think what echo is saying is that your body responds to stress and you put more physical and mental stress on the body when you are required to use more of it at once. There's a risk element to it but there's a limit where the risk is too high (eg weighted push-ups are better then bench press to a point but having significant weight on your back - and close to your neck- quickly produces diminishing returns). All else equal, if you can do a movement that incoporates more complexity and balance your body will respond disproportionately to that movement.

So buy or get gymnastics rings and hang them in order to be able to use them for building strength and power. Be consistent. Do cardio and aerobic activity as well. Eat correctly, make sure to get enough protein, don't overdo on carbs. Have vegetables and a little bit of fruit. Have low fat food. If you have issues like not being able to eat or have a lot of potassium or phosphorous, then limit those foods or have smaller portions of those so you won't end up vomiting or itching. Take medications you need to. If you have certian medical conditions eating incorrectly does and will cause and bring you unwanted problems.

Sonny Puzikas can do pistol squats on kettlebells. He said in a KZbin video of his, doing pistol squats on kettlebells is an advanced exercise technique that should not be attempted by beginners. Because as a beginner it means you haven't yet developed enough strength, endurance and power to correctly and safely do the exercise. Getting, being in that kind of physical condition and shape takes years. But working towards, achieving and maintaining that...will be incredibly challenging and extremely rewarding! 😊😁😎👍👍👍👍

Gymnastic rings = rotator cuff SUICIDE for the novice Dumbells are NOT superior to barbells for bench press, which is why you don't see guys pushing tons of weight on dumbells. Push ups ARE the superior pushing exercise for the body, but handicapped because you can't progressively load it like a barbell that holds hundreds of lbs. For those of us into barbell strength training using progressive load there is unfortunately no substitute for the barbell and the iron. I was thinking of going into truck driving as it's otherwise perfect for me who is in desperate need of a career path, but I can't do it because of this issue which is of highest priority. Anyone interested in being accused of being on steroids as a natty, try looking up Mark Rippetoe and Starting Strength. Watch him on youtube. Get his book and join the forum. Ask questions. You will NOT regret it.
