7:43 take two sets of your spiral pistons and vertically mirror image them. the top and bottom will both have centered output.

Still a beast to make so many subgrids by hand and Klang loves to mess with these constructs.@@KiltedBastard

That is true, Klang is a flicked beast, and I feel that most late game play is just Klang management. For Klang cannot be tamed.

Another tip people don't think about with the rotor system on drill rigs is once ur cargo is full turning off the rig is smarter than letting the drills fill at uneven rates and throwing the balance off when people are playing with x10 inventory space.
@kinngrimmАй бұрын
inch worm or infinity drills as they seem to be called at times, to me are the best you can do where it comes to fire and forget drilling. Setup is a bit more complicated, but when it works you can just do other things while ressources come in the background till render range or the stellar objects gravitational center is reached.
@KiltedBastardАй бұрын
You're not wrong, this can be even more crazy since you can now have it only fire when you are low on ingots, and it can be done remotely, and have it delivered to your base via drone. I really want to do some crazy set up at some point. I think it would be fun.

@@KiltedBastard when you do, if i may suggest so, make a vid about it and have steam blueprint links in the discription.

I'm just starting with SE, and these pistons seem kind of limited. They drill until the piston is fully extended, and then you have to build a new one, or partly demolish and extend it. I found I had more ore with less effort by just building a drill, attach a battery and storage, turn it on, and just let gravity sink it down till it is full or the battery dies, and come back later to pick ore up by hand, or fish out the storage containers with a landing gear or magplate-on-a-stick below a ship and drop off at base.
@KiltedBastard10 ай бұрын
That is a perfectly valid way to go about it. I would suggest adding an event controller that shuts the drills off when the cargo container gets full. Also, there is a way to have the drill build itself it would require a slightly more complex system.
@nauticalgaming22568 ай бұрын
I mean at that point just do what I'm doing. Build a Mobile Drilling Platform. Utilizes landing gear to detach itself so you can pick it up and move it when it gets too deep for the arm. That being said, prior to moving you do have to unload it's storage unless you've got a POWERFUL hauler ship because the one I built has 3 Large Grid Large Cargo Containers, so once it's done drilling and loaded up it's HEFTY. But it saves me time because instead of mining iron I just go to the Mobile Drill Rig and grab a bunch of the iron it already has from refining Stone.

Best advice dont build a drill platform. Build a drill vehicle instead.
@KiltedBastard2 ай бұрын
True, you will eventually need a mobile drilling system(rover or ship). However, I do still find uses for some large stationery drilling rig of some kind. But that is just my style of play.

@@KiltedBastard i play on the official servers a lot, and I often use drill platforms to hide bases in asteroids rather near earthlike, which are often very nasty lanes for Piracy

We don't discuss the chain drill.... but if you don't mind, a bit of clang it is an option.
