Uwase Arlette it is important to understand that FGM Type 1a is identical to male circumcision because Male prepuce (foreskin) = Female prepuce (Clitoral Hood). This is the only portion of the FGM Law that should be excluded. The other types of FGM are completely barbaric. Removing the Prepuce on either gender has benefits and risks, but regardless both should be legal procedures because they are equivalent. You can’t criminalize removing the prepuce from woman, but allow the prepuce from men to be removed because this would violate the 14th amendment.

A small minority of male cutting involves a dorsal slit with no amputation however this is not performed on babies. An insignificant number of genital cutting cases performed on boy babies is a pricking to draw blood. Perhaps in your community it is fully quite acceptable to have one's baby's ears pierced however this is not the case in all, eg my own where you would have difficulty finding a piercer prepared to do it and if the baby is neonatal then I think you might find yourself and the piercer prosecuted for child abuse.
