The worlds biggest working steam engine is reborn. After many years on static display in Pomona, Ca, Big Boy #4014 is back in steam.
Driven by the careful hands of the UP steam crew, this masterpiece, once born at the ALCO locomotive works, is back on its home rails.
At the beginning of may 2019, Big Boy steamed from Cheyenne, WY to Ogden, UT for the "Great race to Ogden" and the 150th anniversary of Union Pacifics transcon railroad. Next to 4-8-8-4 Big Boy there is the other working steam engine of UP, the FEF 4-8-4 Northern type #844.
After the celebration in Ogden both engines steamed back to Cheyenne.
