He literally could have killed someone... if someone had been walking across that cross walk and he hit them he would have killed them. OR, if he had hit that car going straight on he could have killed or seriously injured the other driver. If I know I will be drinking, i plan to have a ride and most times wont even being my keys with me. There is NO excuse and therefore no sympathy for someone who drinks and drives. Side note: my boyfriend got a DUI 2 years ago and it changed his life for the better, despite the fact that it made his next two years the worst he's ever experienced.

It's all about the crumple zone of the modern car. You will see alot of damage, but the passengers are ok. (I'm not this old) but Back in the day, when cars were built with steel and no crumple safety features, you'd have a small bump on the actual car, yet the passenger of that car is really bad off, or dead.

I think it's based on how likely the people in the car are to have suffered injuries. Yeah front of the car is gone, but it looks like pretty much all the damage was isolated to that section. So they might find someone with a broken bone or some cuts but shouldn't be anything major.
