The Torque spec for seating the bearings is 22ft/lbs but do not leave it at torque. Tighten to 22ft/lbs, back off, tighten again to 22ft/back off, and I then tighten the nut with just my fingers and do 1/8-1/4 turn. That seems to get the hub seated but still loose enough that it won’t burn up the bearing. 👍🏼

I remember doing something similar the first time I did a set of bearings on my ae86. There is also usually a breakaway and rotational torque spec for these type of hub/bearings, but it is super awkward to measure. I use my "by feel" method on probably 100+ cars in the last decade, but it was only after doing probably 50+ using the factory torque settings to where I had a more "calibrated hand" haha. I learned it from the lead tech at one of the shops I worked at years back.

That's a neat bearing packing tool! I've never seen it before! I just recently did this job on my Corolla. Well done my friend!

Thanks! It's super handy. I bought it when I bought my first 86 over a decade ago.
