Thank you for posting this video. This information will be very helpful for when I buy my own AE86 sometime in the near future. I love watching your videos, they are very informative. I wish you luck in any future modifications. A good friend of mine also happens to own an AE86, and after many hours of hard work has finally got it out to a drift event weekend and was a success. I look forward to seeing future updates. Keep up the great work! greetings from Canada.

Thanks for posting all the info about your AE86, I've recently purchased an AE86 I'll need to swap/upgrade a few parts as is seeing that the Corolla hasn't had any maintenance done in what seems to be 30 years.

man you paid all that Performance Parts but you still hold your hood with cardboard tube.except that you shine like always .you are a inspiration for me

What does an manual steering rack exactly ? Im kinda a noob to cars and want to import an 86 next year. Trying to learn as much as possible :)
@mr.j.martinez9 ай бұрын
It removes the need for power steering. So there's no pump that needs to be driven by the engine. Power steering robs horsepower and can be quite heavy. You'll have less moving parts that could potentially leak or fail, also. The ae86 is quite a light car, so power steering isn't necessary.

thoughts on intake?
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+Denny H Thanks for reminding me! With the stock 20v ITBS, 100mm is definitely MORE effective than 75mm velocity stacks (especially for low end torque). And Pipercross Filters are better than the slip on Unifilters.

Have you drifted your car with stock caster? I've tried both and decided its much easier with just a tad over stock. still running stock tension rods myself but with poly bushings. You can watch my Nikko video and see how snappy and fast the steering was....that was max caster on stock rods. Was a nightmare.
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+Zack Hafler Haha I've seen all your videos man! Great stuff! And I have drifted with stock tension rods and PS steering rack(lines disconnected). There's less angle and it is certainly less "snappy" with less feedback. I realized with a more numb steering feel, I'm more inclined to "fight" the wheel a lot. Just a lot of unnecessary wheel adjustments and motions. But I do see what you mean. Certainly with max caster, the wheel feedback is a lot more violent and seemingly harder to "control". But ultimately, I found that on a perfect run (perfect entry/perfect speed/perfect angle/perfect RPM range), you can just about let go of the wheel. It sounds cliched, but its these moments where you become one with the car and your inputs are smooth, and the feedback is also smooth. But yeah, when I find myself struggling with the controls, then I know it's me that's not doing something right, and the car's great at this communication. And I do believe more is better in terms of caster. Though it does suck when parking lol.

@GardenCityChoppers8 жыл бұрын
do you use traction brackets or adjustable 4 link? if you do what do you think of them?
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+Gucci Bound MTN No I don't have these. But I do have the T3 adjustable panhard bar. As I've said somewhere (earlier video), lowering the car messes with the suspension geometry from its intended ride height. The first thing to address is the Panhard bar as that significantly changes the position of the rear end from left to right. To ad to that, I also have the panhard bar/lateral rod drop mount which can work with the stock panhard bar. But I got this mount just so the panhard bar clears the exhaust and stopped this really annoying rattle I had a while back. ~Cheers

Do you run high angle steering knuckles?

Awesome vids!! Liked and subscribe :P If im not wrong a manual rack like AW11 one should be around 1080º ~3 turns. Would you consider a quick steering ratio to be around 900º~2.5 turns should help? On the other hand, i have heard many times that in a 16v a cone filter attached to the stock intake manifold doesn´t provide any advantage over the stock air filter box, any recommendation about this air intake thing?Thx in advance!

ive been trying to find a 86 for a while now. is yours a gts or sr5? obviously its not a true "86" being LHD
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+Jesse Strader What makes you believe its not an 86? Just because Regular cars dude says so, doesn't mean hes right. And yes, she's a GTS. You're best bet is starting off with a GTS with stronger rear axles, full disk brakes, and of course a 4ag instead of a 4ac.
@JesseJessMyster8 жыл бұрын
well only japan got the true "86" but yes that what ive been looking for is a gts, less work. your car is beautiful, did you have it repainted?

Did your 86 come with the jdm bumpers or did you put them on yourself? Been wondering about ordering some jdm bumpers online and putting them on, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not they are direct bolt on. Thanks :D
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+MrSpunkerr I did get them. Bumper(skins) need two specific brackets each. And yes they are bolt on.

Hey Boss! So I want to start by saying this video has educated me what do i really need to improve and build my ae86. However, my rear end brake system is Drums and I want disc. Do you know anyone who is selling a rear end axle disc? Im willing to purchase (serious buyer here). I see u out in NY. I live in NYC so please help me if u can. Thank you again.
@andretapang38208 жыл бұрын
you should apply 3m undercoating for your wheel wells, would make it a lot cleaner plus some protection against rust
@Progressionmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
+Andre Tapang I use a spray on truck bed coating that I use to touch up spots. With the crazy angle this car has, the inner part of the tires rub against the wheel well and frame at full lock. That exposes bare metal. So far I've just been touching it up every now and then. A proper coating wont help if it keeps rubbing so I just let it happen and touch it up afterwards.
