I had the same problem on my fxgt with the exhaust. Ended up just putting it out the side. Still passes wofs but not at vtnz.
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
Thats mint it still passes wofs, while laying under the car that did pass my mind as would have been a far easier option. lol I would never take my car to vtnz. We commonly see cars come into work failing on things that aren't even failure, or them calling a bolt on panel a structural panel.

How did the car run after the exhaust shat itself? BWAAAAAAH!
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
It ran like crap, felt like it had no power and bad vibrations throughout the car. Wasn't excessively loud or anything which made me think it was something worse than what it was

@@4AGEEDGarage My exhaust on my Allex RS180 blew the guts out of the muffler with a loud 'pop' that clogged the exhaust a few years back, ran like a stuttering lazy pig and had no power. It was a huge relief to be such a minor thing. Wiped the sweat off the brow with that one. She ticked over 274,000k's the other day. Bullet-proof so far that 2zzGE.

How come you got you cold start and engine light to work? My 20v swop with aftermarket engine management took away the cold start and check engine light. Are you running stock ecu? The 16v or 20v? Also, my oil pressure gauge does not work, I do get a current from my oil sender wire though, any thoughts?
@4AGEEDGarage Жыл бұрын
Yes I'm using stock 20v ecu, I had to wire into AE92 engine dash light wire to my ECU. I also had to use my 16v oil pressure sender on engine as 20v one doesn't work on 16v AE92 gauge cluster.
@deeniy9375 Жыл бұрын
@@4AGEEDGarage thanks. I don’t think I’m going go stock ecu. I’ve developed a bigger problem now. Oil and water mixing. Just did the head skimming with new gasket, then back on the dyno and then the gasket blew again. This 20v burns money
@4AGEEDGarage Жыл бұрын
@@deeniy9375 gosh that doesn't sound good at all. What head gasket are you using? 0.8 TRD or normal 1.2 OEM? And are you using new OEM head studs or ARP?

ive got a similar issue with the fuel pressure gauge on my fxgt, standard 16v smallport etc but my needle is stuck up top of the gauge, so thanks for the insite hoping its a similar issue.. noticed the ignition coil on the 86 - aftermarket yes? ill be replacing leads soon enough and would like to replace the coil while at it. ay recommendations? ideally MSD as i can get though work for cheapcheap. thanks!
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
Could possibly be a little stuck the gauge itself or the float in the tank stuck up as I've had that happen also. Coil in the AE86 is stock, just mounted up higher than usual where the red is more noticeable. Would personally use oem coil to keep it problem free and reliable unless your motor is modified running aftermarket ecu.

My oil pressure gauge hasn't been working since I did the 20v swap, have to sort that out at some stage lol
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hopefully its a similar fix. I stuffed up by plugging the wire connection on to the 20v oil pressure sender way back when installing the engine thinking it would work like the 16v one but instead the needle on the gauge went well above the H mark and then never worked again. I have the 16v pressure sender installed on the 20v engine now. Original 20v pressure sender only sends a signal when the pressure is low and operates an oil light in a ae101 or ae111 gauge cluster.
@bnk32713 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I've done needle shot right up and now doesn't work, does the 16v sender fit onto the 20v?

@@bnk3271 yeah it does fit. Alot larger in size. Was in one of my previous videos

Sweet, I will get one and try it out any future plans for the ae92? Or you gonna focus on ae86 next

@@bnk3271 not too much, if anything just change the wheels. Focus on ae86 next as would like to get some progress done on the body, 6 speed j160 gearbox swap and decide on the engine to build.

Do you know much about putting a silvertop in a e90 Corolla with 2e (carby)? What are the main road blocks
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
No I don't as have only done the AE92 which already had a 4age 16v before I started which helps having the fuel injection to start with. Carby involves a bit more and have heard of people swapping fuel tanks, mounts being different and wiring being tricky not having efi in the fuse box.

Hey bro I heard you mention that if you go to Big on your exhaust you will lose back pressure and in doing so you will lose power this is completely false if you would like to research on it it has been proven many times bigger is always better
@4AGEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks for your comment. I was always of the understanding for all turbo applications bigger is always better, but on NA applications, going too big means there is more volume of area for the exhaust gas to travel through giving the gas plenty of time to cool off. Therefore the cooler gas, the heavier it is to push through the system causing slower exhaust flow and decreased performance. Maybe if running more supporting mods the engine would benefit from a larger size, just from what I have researched anyway in the past and previous video's I have watched. Appreciate your input though as I know you have a wealth of knowledge, enjoy watching Niko's videos
@mtperformanceengines35083 жыл бұрын
@@4AGEEDGarage thanks brother yeah there is alot that goes into exhaust system setup but yeah don't think back pressure is a thing to make power you want the gas out as fast as possible
