Ok.. I recently had a knee injury, and I cannot bend my knee like that, nor can I step into the tub. This does not help me at all, since it doesn't address that issue

Raeyne Jaymeson Thanks for your comment. You are right! Shower chairs don't make it easy to get into the shower especially with an injury. A shower chair works best for people when they are already in the shower or tub. It's used mostly for people that cannot tolerate standing long enough to take a shower and need to sit down. Consider using a Tub Transfer Bench as featured in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYmmgZ-ohptraMU The transfer bench sits inside and outside the tub allowing the user to slide across lifting one leg at a time into the tub. Also consider using a Leg Lifter featured here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epuce3mfeKx2o9U A leg lifter can help you gently lift your leg over the side and into the tub using the strength of your arms. I'm an occupational therapist and this video was spot on. There are many tub bench transfer videos on here but this is the only shower chair transfer video I was able to find.

Ahhh...THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT!! I'm still new with my debilitating crippling arthritic condition and my knees and neuropathic feet are the worst making it difficult to stand for any length of time or raise my legs to get in and out of my bathtub. I love my little shower bench I use to shower with and found my own way now on how to get out of tub. I have a portable grab bar on side of tub but still couldn't bend knee to get over tub until you mentioned "bend in back"...THANK YOU! !! I didn't think I needed to trade my bench in for a transfer bench ...yet!! xoxo

Great work. My 91 yr old mom needs a chair but my concern is the tub may be too narrow for a chair to stand level without wobbling or sliding. Do any chairs have legs that can be adjusted by width? Thanks.

Adiedo, thank you for your question. We are unaware of any shower chairs that allow adjustments to the width of the position of the legs. Shower chairs vary in size, but if you are unable to find one that fits the width of the tub, you may want to take a look at a shower stool instead. Here is an example: www.amazon.com/dp/B07XTT8Z1B/?tag=AECorner-20 The stools, of course, don’t give as much support, not typically having backrest or armrests, so you certainly need to take that into consideration in regards to safety. There are some chairs with a narrower leg width. Take a look at, "OasisSpace Shower Chair" ..... S K U # O S - 2 8 L B M - B C - B E 6 2 0 3 6. The base of this chair at widest point is 12.5 inches. Good luck. 🍀

I have had 3 bath seats and none of them sit flat in the tub. They have to sit a couple inches on the bathtub side walls. Benches are not a possibilty, so what do I do? Is it safe?

The presenter is using it exactly the wrong way. Don't ever step into a tub if you have need of a tub seat. Even with a seat like this, as long as it is suctioned to the tub, you can sit on it sideways, then swing your legs in. There is no need to work a fall by standing on one foot at any point, like this presenter does.

Donna Lombardo, there are individuals who may only need a seat in the shower due to endurance reasons only. If an individual must sit down for safety prior to entering the tub, I always recommend a tub bench or assistance of a caregiver to hold the shower chair, if it must be used to sit on before entering the tub, due to the potential of the seat tipping. Yes, the shower chair has suction cups, but they are no match for full body weight on the edge of the seat.
