I was on crutches for 4 months, and I found the easiest way to go upstairs was to sit on the stairs and go up them butt first, with the bad leg extended out and using both arms to hoist myself onto the next stair.

Jamie Cloud, thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, that certainly is an option. We recommend that people do whatever they are most comfortable with. Take Care! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com

I just fractured my ankle and would do the butt scoot method. Getting off the floor I’ll use a bench in my bedroom. With another set of crutches upstairs. And a set downstairs until I can use the scooter. Leg pretty numb.

@@Basketball069same here. But once ur on the top step, how did u raise ur body to stand up???
@Basketball06910 ай бұрын
@@Lgrnoquitinny I scooted to my bedroom then up on a low bench then onto the bed. Used a walker for upstairs

Deadass what ive been doing is just sitting on the stairs and just scooting up and down
@WaxwingSlain10 ай бұрын
I haven't thought about doing it that way Holy fuck I might just start 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@Man-O-Little-Tan10 ай бұрын
@@WaxwingSlain honestly its easier esp if you cant jostle the leg around a bit i still prefer walking up with crutches now but the scooting is definently easier at the beggining

Damn 😂🤣 That seems interesting to see. How would you get the crutches up and down while doing that though so you have them to walk once you're up/down the stairs? I'm on them now awaiting quad tendon ruptured repair surgery (later this week)...

@@Bread_n_Butter. at first whoever was helping me carried them up but once i got used to it i could just carry they with one hand

@@Man-O-Little-Tan Okay, I live alone so I have no help most of the time. The post op period for me (starting this Friday) will be very interesting lol.

What if your non weight bearing foot is opposite the railing? So far I haven't found anyone that's accounted for this
@AECorner10 ай бұрын
@HeatherDuffy1313, thank you for your question. The technique would be exactly the same no matter which side is non weight bearing. Hope this helps. Take care and be safe! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com

I usually just use the crutches to go up and down the stair it looks a little bit scary at first but it’s pretty easy

if my non bearing weight leg has to keep straight, would i straighten it back and do this?
@AECorner Жыл бұрын
@ILoveAudios, thank you for your question. Yes, that is how you would do it going up the stairs. You would need to go slowly and use caution, because this is not easy. If you are able, we would recommend sitting down and going up on you bottom if possible. Take care! ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com

I do it with one while the other I place a couple of steps up then again and again till I reach the top.

This seems way more dangerous than just using your cruthes and forgetting the rail or just sitting on your butt

what if you have two partial weight-bearing legs? I'm getting forearm crutches to help manage energy and pain with my chronic illness.
@AECorner10 ай бұрын
@Rene-is-confused, you would use the crutches the same way, but lead up the stairs with the strongest of the two legs first and down the stairs with the weakest of the two legs first. Up, strongest leg followed by crutches and weakest leg Down, crutches then weakest leg, then strongest leg. Hope this is helpful. ✌🏻❤️😊 AECorner.com

Too much of hopping on the good leg can injure the good leg's foot.
