AED Training: An Introduction to the LifePak-20 Defibrillator-Monitor

Nursing educator Michele Kunz gives us an introduction to using an AED - automatic external defibrillator. For this demonstration, a LifePak-20 is used to give medical professionals an introductory overview of the machine and its buttons.

If you have this defib at your institution, you need to be very careful. It has several design flaws that make it very confusing to use and promote use errors. If you are buying a new defib, i would stay away from this model. This video highlights some of the issues: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKq0kJScaKiprac

Several facilities have used the 20 for nearly a decade with no issues, your concerns are valid for inexperienced users but as Miss Kunz said it's important to be familiar with your monitor and as long as the user is familiar with the monitor it isn't a problem
