NE18 was sleeping at the side of the nest when 19 accidentally touches him with his clumsiness. 18 turns around and really goes after 19 pulling his wing and biting him. This is the part of sibling rivalry that many find difficult to watch including myself. I am showing this for documentation purposes. Before we had live cams in these nests, we did not know what actually went on between siblings. 18 is the oldest and most aggressive and will dominate 19 at feedings and also on the nest as the pecking order is established. Most of the time, the youngest learns to avoid the conflict by being submissive and waiting until the oldest has eaten their fill before trying to get food themselves. The sibling rivalry & aggression does wane in a few weeks if food is plentiful which it is at this nest. At this point, there is nothing abnormal about what we are seeing - it is just difficult to observe. Please read my pinned comment. Thank you for watching!
