AEF NEFL Eagles ~ Gabby & Beau Meet At The Nest Tree! Gabby's Nippy Greeting! 💕 😊 9.16.24

This afternoon, Gabby flew into the nest with vocals and then she flew off, circled around and landed on the wallenda branch. Beau flew in right after her. They exchanged greeting vocals - but Gabby was not very welcoming and nips at Beau. He didn't like it and flew to the LOP. Both eagles will fly off.
Gabby returns at dusk to the nest alone and she stays for a few minutes looking around. Was she looking for Beau? She then flies to LOP and then off for the night. Hopefully they both ended up roosting together.
Nipping, beaking, pecking, vocals, footing, body bumps etc are all part of the courtship/bonding behavior the eagles display. It may look unfriendly to us, but it has a different meaning for the eagles.
Last year Gabby was nippy to Beau as well but they got into a groove with nestorations which is a prelude to bonding, Hopefully we will see them find their groove again! Gabby is a very headstrong female! Thank you for watching!

Hello Oliver well said and thank you for wishing Beau & Gabby success this season!! ♥ Gabby is a dominant female and really rules the roost. I think when she lost Samson and all those dozens of intruders came in like a revolving door left her shaken up, And the following year she had more upset too but was not successful with Beau in the egg incubation department, I think all of that takes a toll on her. I went back and watched Gabby when she was still “A2” and she was mighty nippy/dominant even with Samson! She came crashing into this nest like she owned it! 😂 Beau has big shoes to fill but he’s a comparatively young eagle (as far as I know). I wouldn’t doubt it if Gabby was the first female he seriously tried to court and that’s a lot to take on! But he’s still learning and deserves grace. If Gabby loses her patience or chooses another suitor and wants him gone, we’ll know.

Ooh, I remember Gabrielle was sooo nippy and screaming vocals at our beloved Samson I used to feel sorry for him..cause he would fly away too...but they bonded and produced beautiful eaglets. Gabby does not want Beau with her, so much proof of interaction is undeniable. Also that hole in the nest is a stark reminder to Gabby of where Beau had buried her precious eggs from last season. They remember. ❤

If Gabby wanted him gone, she’d drive him off and select another suitor (like the handsome visitor with the bad toes). She’s certainly nippy but she’s not attacking him in such an aggressive way that I feel she’s outright rejected him. Like others have suggested, I think it’s hormonal kicking in for the start of a new season. 😉

wowsers....Beau has stepped up beautifully. Why does Gabby want to act so hateful to him? Might be time for Beau to find someone else who appreciates him more. Obvious she is not happy. Listening to her sounds like she wants him gone. Well good luck then. Beau is a great protector, fighter, watcher. Not sure what her problem is. I know some women like this,

Hello candy r Gabby has always been vocal and nippy even with Samson. Sometimes Samson would fly away too but they were a bonded pair. Perhaps with eggs and eaglets Gabby's dominant behavior towards Beau will calm down some but she will always be a vocal and forceful female. It will be interesting to see what develops this season between them! I agree with you - Beau is s great protector and is committed to this territory and nest. I wish them the best ♥
