Thanks mate. I've had my AEG Line Trimmer since late 2016 & was so impressed I bought the mower (last day of 2016) & in 2017 bought blower, hedge trimmer & chainsaw. The Line Trimmer is still going strong (probably don't use it as much as you), but two of my batteries (out of six) developed faults & no longer charge (I'm not inclined to change cells & I wouldn't be as confident in the safety during charging & under load etc), so late in 2023 I bought another (58V) Line Trimmer kit with the 8Ah Ultimate battery & with a bonus 4Ah Ultimate battery (yet to come). It is great! The 8Ah battery doesn't want to work in my 7 year mower though, but is fine in all my other tools (includes jet blower & Brushcutter I bought soon after release). I have however fallen for buying another mower as it was on clearance & with an extra discount being a display model. It was the AEG 21" Self-propelled kit with 2 x 4Ah Ultimate batteries (with charger), however I got it home & the batteries were dead & won't charge. I have to wait for more of those batteries to come back into stock soon to exchange (be interesting if they will work in the old mower, which they should), however the new 21" mower works great, with original 4Ah batteries & also the 8Ah Ultimate battery. No, I wasn't going to return the kit since I got it at $500 off normal price & am happy to wait for replacement batteries. 😉 I also have some of their 18v gear as well, so use the 18v Line Trimmer for grass edging & the 18V Hedge Trimmer too, together with the Pole Hedge Trimmer attachment on the 58V Line Trimmer drive. BTW, the 4Ah Ultimate batteries are $299 while the 8Ah Ultimate battery is $499, so better value for capacity, however, buying batteries separately is always going to be more expensive (did that back in 2017) & one should buy the kits when possible to get them & a charger at a much cheaper price & also the best time to buy is during bonus offers too. 😊

Excellent review - you showed how it was done and the pros and cons of each. I have the new 18 Volt and must say i like it so far. I have never used a battery-powered whipper snipper before. I also got the extended 6 year warranty and extended 3 years on the battery. I was wondering if you could tell me more about the bladed whipper snipper as I could not find any information about it. I want to buy and alternate head for it and compare the two. Excellent review.

I saw the brushcutter at a show recently, and spoke to a representative about it. You get a line trimmer head as well as the blade head, and there are other accessories you can buy such as a lawn edger and hedge trimmer. Here's a link to the AEG website: www.aegpowertools.com.au/products/details/58v-4-0ah-26cm-brushless-brushcutter-kit-alt58bc401

hi i just got aeg trimmer kit i have 2 58v battery's 4ah - do you think having 2 batterys 4ah is better then having 1 8ah battery?

Yes, probably 2 batteries is better. That way if you ever want to trim for longer, you can charge one up while using the other one. It will probably charge quicker than you can trim.

How would this go against a large stihl petrol in your opinion? Thanks

Sorry, but I've only ever used a fairly small petrol brushcutter, so I can't really compare them.

The Stihl would be slightly more powerful, but ergonomically less optimized and much louder, in my opinion not as well balanced either. I've got both, prefer the 58V AEG

@@robertsaca3512 I live on 5 acres as does my neighbor. I went with the 1.7kw Stihl, my neighbor went with a hefty battery brushcutter. His is much quieter than mine and better balanced, more user friendly for sure. I take one hour, he takes 4 hours. He likely does a neater job than me, I just want to get it over with and happy I went that way.
