AEG Cordless Trim Router - BOF18 - 18V Brushless Laminate Trimmer (Ridgid)

AEG are once again first to market, with a brushless 18V trim router, the BOF18 (what a model number!).
It looks the goods with nice ergonomics and easy depth adjustment, but can a cordless router put out enough power to satisfy? We'll put it to the test!

I think ryobi and AEG are manufactured by the same company, techtronics or something like that. Based in Singapore. Wouldn't be surprised to see Milwaukee come out with one as they are owned by them as well. Anyway a great video as usual guys.

The only thing i don't like many of the battery powered tools is that they don't offer any alternative for corded use. I ended up once to buy a brand new circular saw, instead of buy new or even refurbish battery.

I've owned this for a year or so now and used it a bit. It's not bad but like you say, the fence rods are stupid. What a dumb design. Using it with the 2.5AH batteries I got with my AEG drill, it does seem to struggle with power a little, but it is a small unit. You just have to be patient. It also runs 2.5AH flat really quick so I'd recommend getting a bigger battery if you don't already have one. No replacement for a full size router but serves a purpose and does a reasonable job of it.

I have the AEG Drill & Impact driver as well as their finishing nailer... (and happy with them so far) and been looking at the Makita cordless... but maybe the AEG will be fine... since I already have their batteries and charger.

Looks very similar to the Ryobi made in the same factory, though obviously this is brushless! How long before we see a Milwaukee version, and I wonder what upgrades it will have being TTI's top of the line brand. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the Ryobi and AEG to see exactly what you get for the additional $$$ apart from the warranty. On an slightly related note, it's great that Bunnings have come to the UK. They've already shaken things up a bit with only a few stores converted!

I am desperately waiting for Milwaukee to bring one out! I had a Ryobi one, but it was terrible to be honest. I sold it a few weeks after getting it. Depth adjustments on it was terrible. I just went back to my dewalt corded that also has the plunge base option.

I wish the Makita had a fine depth adjustment. Sounded like it stuggles a little more than the Makita? A comparison video would be cool.

My only complaint is it doesn't come with a guide bush. Can not find a guide bush the same diameter as hole in base plate.

Hi I just bought this tool and I'm finding I have to pull the power button out, push it back into off and then pull it out again to start it, is this normal? Doesn't look like you had to do this from the video.

Is AEG the equivalent to Ridgid in australia, because it is exactly the same as the ridgid model. An exact twin. I would be suprised if you could put a Ridgid batterie in it

@@OZToolTalk Meranti / Maple same same, they come under the same umbrella , neither are hardwood, they are quite soft timber and easily damaged, if that jamb was old Aussie hardwood the trimmer would have caught fire doing what you did 🤣🤣😂😂👌
