The AEG (Electrolux) dryers have a common reliability issue. Somewhere in the cycle an EHO code occurs and the dryer stops. Note this is an easy fix with detailed instructions but you will need a soldering iron.

Brilliant - same problem on my AEG and easy fix (once you’d explained). Buying a soldering iron was a lot cheaper than replacing the machine. Thank you 👏🏻

Thank you so much for making this video! You saved us from having to buy a new dryer. We have a very similar model to the one you fixed, and we were getting a EH0 error every single time we tried to use it. My husband and I tried everything to fix it, even took out the motherboard and had a look, but we couldn’t see anything wrong…until we watched this video. We just weren’t looking closely enough. After soldering the defective joints, the problem was solved. It works perfectly again. I watched a lot of other videos before finding yours, but none of them really helped. So, thanks for explaining everything so clearly and in such detail

I believe it's due to vibration. You find the same failures on relay solder joints on washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers, basically all white goods. I think the relays are just too heavy and require additional mechanical fastening. After resoldering I had failures after one or two years. However, I had good experience with additionally using cable ties and even silicone-type glue (remains kind of rubber-y). Nice job on the repair 👍

And on vehicle boards. Vibration + crappy ROHS solder.
@razenby Жыл бұрын
Make no mistake, the failure is due to PCB design and a lack of process control practice in the controller production line. Vibration may reveal the bad soldering practices the root cause is not vibration.

I had exactly this problem with bad solder joints on the relay. Resoldering fixed the issue totally. It’s amazing that it’s the same issue on all these boards.

Great news. Another one saved!!! It is extraordinary as the joints and PCB layout on this board is a classic bad example. As my dad use to say 'A little bit on knowledge can be a bad thing' . I guess the real disgrace is that the manufacturer hasn't in the east fessed up to conning the public with crappy electronics in a top end dryer!!

Thank you very much making this. And showing how to fix the printplate. I am not at all good with a soldering iron but you showing how got me getting the correct material. And following your example I've managed to resolder all the contacts on t he printplate. And identifying a really bad soldered connection. In my case a power connection (I found three white blocks) that had a touchup before me. Possibly quality control. But this one was lifting away from the printplate with little movement. This video gave anough direction and confidence I could handle it, and OHO code is gone and dryer up and running. Greatly appreciated you putting the time in shwoing how its done. SAved me another dryer.

Thank you very much! I had the same issue with my second-hand dryer, which is a slightly different model than the one in the video. However despite some differences (mostly in the design of the PCB itself) I was able to fix it following the instructions in the video. At first glance I couldn't see the cracks in the solder, but after close inspection I managed to notice that a dozen of the solder connections were cracked. Resoldered them and voila - the dryer works as new.

Absolute hero. I recently replaced the motor (which was making an awful noise) and display (which no longer worked due to water ingress) in our AEG dryer, cleared out all the fluff - all was working nicely up until recently when we started getting this EHO error intermittently. Needless to say, I was a bit miffed that it had developed ANOTHER fault after spending £250-odd on components. Found one video that recommended cleaning out the fluff from inside the power board housing - no joy. Found your video and immediately spotted the rings around the solder joints just like in your example. Re-soldered and - hey presto! Amazing. Thanks so much.

Utter crap soldering by the manufacture. Well done for saving a good machine :-D 20 quid, very fair :-D I fixed a cheap basic tumble dryer for a great mate. The tension pulley had a mental breakdown and fell apart. There was a mound of grey fluff i removed, dangerious possibility of fire.
@razenby Жыл бұрын
I agree. We used to use a British standard for solder joint inspection in our production line. (7,000 Computer monitors per month). It seems that this expertise has been lost in the white goods industry.
@zx8401ztv Жыл бұрын
@@razenby i bet there was only a few that failed because of component failure later in the next year. Making components with short legs would reduce component waggle in transit. Dam I've bored myself stiff lol.

@@razenby I hasn't been lost. It was cost-cut intentionally. How else could you make a 270€/$/whatever budget tier washing machine? The same lessons learned for that market segment helped to increase margins on higher tier products. Oh well, at least fridges are without PCBs :)

I have same motherboard in my dryer but mine just stops a few seconds after starting a cycle without error code. I can pause and resume and it will keep doing the same. If I disconnect the 3 pin heater cable it wont cut out but the heater tests fine so I think its a motherboard issue. Theres still 240v going to heater and motor when it cuts out too. What should I look at?
@razenby11 ай бұрын
I would check the door switch is working OK. Inspect it for overheating.
@adriand137411 ай бұрын
@@razenby I checked but its not that. when dryer stops the display thinks it's still going not paused etc. I checked relays and heater only getting sent 12v momentarily then few seconds after dryer stops when motor relay loses 12v . I wish i knew how to do service mode on this dryer

I only get the code if I plug it into a extension cable it works perfectly plugged into the wall socket?
@razenby10 сағат бұрын
You could have bad earth continuity or a bad connection somewhere in the extension lead. Extension needs to be a quality 3-core minimum 1.5 square millimeter (13A) type. Try a different extension. If you get the same fault then you might have a controller in the process of failing...
