yep jaune is based on joan of arc. Joan of arc is a real historical figure. Everything has a reference but they aren't all fairytales. Some are historic or mythological and a few reference other things.

You got it right with Joan of Arc! Again! His team is all gender bent warriors who, at some point in their own stories dressed as a different gender then they were(Joan of Arc, Mulan, Thor and Achilles(it should be fine to say since you've gotten to the second season and had a chance to meet the characters, right?)). You are still on the right track! It just gets more impressive the longer you keep getting things right or extremely close for the amount of info given in the very beginning.

Holy hell mate, this must of took a lot of time assuming this isn't posted somewhere for new viewers to use. I really appreciate the thought and gesture none the less. You're welcome! Glad I could help. You can find some lists in various places. But I'm the one who put this list together including the times (which I think is really helpful for reactors). Some time ago, there were arguments within the fandom as to the best order to watch the series. I think the best way is the order of release; with little exception. Some fans encourage reactors to watch WoR during V1 or wait 'til the end of each volume, or in some other odd order. Some of them are important to be watched before certain chapters and watching them out of place can cause a viewer to miss things or even to be confused. They are released along with the main series. And they become more and more important to the story as the series moves along. I'll wait on giving you the V3-V5 list. I don't want to overwhelm you. Also, don't watch RWBY Chibi season 1 (also by Rooster Teeth) before you finish V3 of the main series or you will be spoiled. It's a comedy series that draws heavily upon V1-V3 of the main series for its humor.

Don't know if you know yet but RT actually put up "movie" length videos of the volumes on youtube up to volume 5 incase you wanted once source to review from instead of having to find individual episodes and do it without ads popping up until you reached the end!

don't forget to react to the volume 1 soundtrack after watching all of volume 1. each song's lyrics give MAJOR hints to either certain characters moods, history, lore of the world around them, or even foreshadowing events for future seasons. Not listening to and understanding the meanings of this shows songs is like watching the movie adaption of a book and not reading the book itself. I give this example because the majority of the time movie adaptions of book series tend to not do a good job.
