Shaman player here. I think one thing you forgot to mention which is also kinda the saving factor in terms of gameplay is the Reduced Earth skill. I find it super fun dodging attacks with it in Sirocco and especially in the more skill-requiring Sirocco solo mode (I'm a cDnf player). With most other characters you kinda have to stop attacking and run from enemy AOE, but Shaman can keep casting her skills and simply squeeze a perfectly timed Reduced Earth between castings. Certainly raises her skillcap a bit, not to mention it looks dope when you teleport around while casting skills, sometimes feels like you are the boss in this fight.

As a Necro main I completely agree with you. None of the Thief classes are simple and easy to pick up and people do tend to categorize her as the summon/caster archetype but she is just sooo much more complicated and her skills flow really well with one another and let you unload your rotation super fast. She one of the older classes with good mini reworks but some of her skills do seem lazy and boring. But this could apply to many classes as they get reworks to fit each meta.

I'll be honest here. I enjoyed this list a lot. But there are only 2 classes which I can't ever agree with. There is some heavy bias at play. THose classes are the M.Grappler and the Vampire lord. Sorry but your assessment of them show more than just subjectiveness. Vampire Lord may not have any complex gimmick but the character is more than just AOE and DoT, what's fun about him is how you can reposition enemies or yourself in order to maximize the AoE. And the system that you found irritating is actually extremely intuitive, it allows you to learn which skills arm the setups and which skills ends them. Yes at first it seems pretty annoying to have to choose the right skills and the right time for everything. But by getting used to this system you will end up learning when to use the skills which reposition enemies or yourself, and use the hold and DoT skills to control enemies while you prepare the burst. It's by no means a boring class, it's a busy class instead. I'd put it on your "Respect" tier, could be either of the respect but not garbage, because it implies that Vampire lord is a class that has nothing special going for him like Asura or Paladin. And it's simply not like that. As for M. Grappler, I will admit I never touched the female variant after the Neo Awakening, but before it, everything you said about M.Grappler is what I felt about F.Grappler instead. M.Grappler is all about combos, you pretty much have free control over rooms if you play him right, you can reposition any enemy in order to finish them all about with big numbers. Unlike F.Grappler which was all about holding the enemy down and for the most part barely had any combos. Anyway aside from these two, I agree for the most part, I would put some classes on different positions, but it's pretty good, that's how you well managed to nail the subjectiveness of the list.

I can't agree with the "skill kill" characters as not fun to play because in the case of the launchers and especially the troubleshooter the game does a great job at impact. It really makes you feel like your moves are hitting like a truck. I'm leveling a troubleshooter right now and just blasting stuff and having it evaporate has not gotten old yet and I'm about level 60.

WM's held back by being one of the first subclasses, hence the recursive 60/70 skills unlike later classes which have unique things there. That being said, the two draw sword skills have different uses. I do wish that they made Flowing stance akin to Skirmisher's flowing stance (Map to space,etc)

All right, long time coming after seeing this, but lemme breakdown the mains I have based on his list: - Sword Master: Eyy, my girl's in the upper middle tier, coolio.~ I do main a Zan SM, but once upon a time, I did have her main Bludgeon~ She's still the best character of mine and I love using her. - Paladin: ...okay, as unga-bunga as she is, I still love her. - Summoner: WE EXIST. YOU SHUT IT. - Witch: I do agree. She is probably the most creative and fun character in the game. - Gaia: So...fun story. As high-ranking as she is, I found her a bit too technical for my tastes. Alas, mine has been stuck at 85 for the longest time. I've tried to go back and play her but...ugh, my fingers.

I am surprised to see so many of my favorite characters in your S tier. Also surprised to see a lot of my favorite characters in your lower tiers. Rogue is my main and I am glade you like her for the same reasons I fell in love with her. Think you forgot to mention you can actually use her contact points to cancel skills into other skills. F Grapp is my number 2. Both Strikers are are not far behind. I love Dragon Knight. Yeah, I really agree with a lot of this. Only a few classes I disagree with. I love my Ele Bomber, love Shadow Dancer, I love Skimisher, Dragoon, Swift Master, Hitman and Secret Agent.

One thing to notice is, beginners usually like to play AOE characters, but the more you play, you realize you want to play a harder character or characters with more unique systems. In my case I started playing F launcher, nice character for chilling, then started experimenting other chars and I also end up liking harder character and find AOE chars silly.

All but 3 of my top characters are above mid tier. Maining pathfinder, male grap, and dragon slayer made this video hurt lol but i knew they aren't for everyone. Which is why it feels good when people are surprised of how good and fun i look in game. That said I can definitely add to what is a turn off to them. Great vid as always. Male grap- if you have lag he's pretty useless unless you know how to work around it (use x string and cancel grab). also he looks like he was supposed to have a jump gimmick to work around his grabs but then they just ignored it and focused all on f grap for it. There's definitely ways they could've fleshed out chain grabs or the aerial alts but again it was ignored. Pathfinder- the battery system is pretty much "sKiL gO BiG" or extend grabs. It makes sense for CC and holds but for his later skills it just doesn't add any value to them. Also his 1a having no way to cancel like his 2a just shows how unloved he is. I will say though his lower end skills remain viable as most of them deal decent damage. Dragon slayer- unlike the other lancers where there's a reason for their gimmicks, there's really no bonus for throwing spears or needing to manage them. He's the peacock of the lancers and I wish they'd add more to him like battle mage. I honestly hope he gets reworked to focus more on either using his spears or going beyond that.

Personally, I put characters like Secret Agent up in S, because I’m a bitch for hit-and-run assassin types. When I pick a subclass for each class, I just pick the ones with the highest or at least most respectable movement speed and damage ratio and take the time to learn mechanics and skill combos, although there are red herrings like Inquisitor and Lightbringer who fulfill mostly the damage aspect but I just pick them because the way they feel and sound when they hit is satisfying. So for each class barring the aforementioned subclasses, Dark Knight and Creator, mine are Ghostblade, Vagabond, Ranger (M/F), Striker (M/F), Battle Mage, Swift Master, Monk, Rogue (undeniably the fastest), Skirmisher and, of course, Secret Agent.

Ofc the ez way to play her is brain dead ez but now days if you wanna dig her potential then you will find the fun part of summoner. Rick, I agree with 99% of this list. I have heard so many experienced players tell new players to make several Asuras to gold farm dungeons because his skills were so basic that the class practically runs dungeons on auto pilot. But, I think you are wrong about Monk's position on this list. I know you said that you feel that Duck and Sway is overrated and this is actually true, but only for PvE content. I do not know if you took the PvP aspect of the game into consideration when you were making this list and I would not blame you if you didn't because PvP in Global DFO is dead, but Monk shines his best in PvP. MONK NUMBER ONE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA outside of hnr talisman, monk still has the flavor and spirit of old beat'emups because of how committed he is sometimes when he's attacking, and pre 3a he had 0 holds so im sure you know how shit it was when you weren't just exploding things in 1 or 2 shots. m.striker has this as well, especially with his muscle shift and without the lightning dance tali. in my current gear level playing sirocco guide especially and trying to squeeze out every bit of dps time possible and not getting greedy really reminded me of why i loved monk in the first place also ducking + using the s and quick parry evasion to dodge shit makes me feel like a god

Hey Rick I'm a pretty new player and I leveled my first character to 100 during the previous even ( female crusader) and I feel like she is way to simple compared with a vagabond. Like a few large nukes on long cooldowns so solo play is not fun. ( granted I have 0 gear to speak of but doing my first level 100 dungeon yesterday felt like a chore ) just my opinion but if fun factor is the metric for the list I would argue f sader should be lower 😉

So in your eyes F.Striker = Launcher? A good 80 percent of the characters in this game have great AoE Nukes and do it room to room. The difference with Fstriker and these more fun characters is that's not the ONLY thing they do. That's not their defining trait. For launchers it is. Their passives even allow them to see enemies off screen to further exemplify this boring playstyle. And yes there is something enjoyable about taking the character with arguably the lowest AoE in the game and building her in such a way to make her seem like one of the absolute best.

I find the M Grappler more fun than F Grappler personally. And for me Swift Master was the most fun I had with a character in DFO, lots of other characters in this game dont interest me in the slightest. But considering I'm very off and on with this game says a lot cuz i absolutely hate the how restrictive the stamina system is making farming more of a chore than in other MMO's.

I love characters with high skill ceiling as well because the trade off is always amazing. When I played Striker back in the day, she was my favorite character. Fast, insanely powerful, super close range. If you know how to combo and are very aware of all of her skills ranges, she can tear apart and dungeon solo. She’s that character you don’t want to get close to in PvP and annihilates pve even with just a +12 weapon. All hail the one inch punch. Now spitfire…. God I’ve always hated that class. Just insanely boring. Super brain dead. Stand, throw grenade, shoot. Done… I cannot stress enough how much I hated male spitfire

I realize this may feel like a random question, but as a new player using this tier list to help guide my choices (and as someone who enjoys challenging characters as well).... Do you think keyboard is notably better for playing than controller? Controller is so much comfortable but I wondered if endgame I would feel bad for not forcing myself to get used to keyboard play early. I imagine that with this comment being a year old now, you probably already have things sorted out. However, this may be beneficial for other new players in the same situation, so it is more intended for them. It comes down to this: Can you play effectively with keyboard? For me, the answer is f*ck no. Obviously you still have to use mouse and keyboard, so you are essentially adding one more peripheral into the mix by using a controller. I play on the couch / big screen, with wireless keyboard on my lap and mouse on the middle section that folds down. Not an ideal set up compared to sitting at a desk, but I manage just fine and the pros outweigh the cons. I look at it in terms of design intent. Controllers are designed specifically to play video games, while keyboards are designed to type shit. When computer games first came out, controller support wasn't a thing, so developers just worked with what they had. Turns out that having a bunch of keys available lets you have a lot more functions that you can assign to them. In certain types of games that is a huge advantage. However, DFO is based on old school arcade beat 'em ups. For the core gameplay, a controller is the natural choice. For me, it was whether I use a normal console style controller or an arcade stick. Due to my lap already being occupied because of my couch setup, I had to go with the regular controller. The key to being successful is to keep on mind the command function. Your basic moves should be done with directional inputs, as they are relatively simple. Save complex input skills for hotkeys. Really, this applies to keyboard as well. The default controller setup allows you to assign the shift function to the shoulder buttons. When holding one down, each of the 4 action buttons will use a different hotkey. The trigger buttons just correspond to single hotkeys. If you use a separate program like Joy2Key, you might be able to assign the triggers to have the shift function as well, giving you 6 additional keys to map. This way you could potentially add your inventory or map, etc for QoL improvement. I really like the Lancers getting some love but I really don’t understand elves knight besides dk they just don’t feel good to me. Female grappler is pure lol cause you can basically get to 1A or even 2A without a weapon (I just levelled 20 levels cause I forgot to equip a weapon) Also ducking lol at that Asura bit. I mean it’s a strong as fuck character but he’s just so braindead. I love the design but the playstyle is so boring compared to GB or even zerker

Like the content but a lot of skipping involved. You tend to ramble on a lot instead of just getting to the point. Video didn’t need to be an hour maybe 20 mins once you get to the point lol The title is misleading. Supposed to be a how fun list not detailing every nook and cranny of each character.

So in your alternative vision of this video, I cover 63 characters in 20 minutes. That gives me 20 seconds per character to explain not only what's fun about them, but also justify why it it's more or less fun than someone else. To an audience of people who more than likely have not played any of the characters at all.
