For whatever individual reasons quite a few characters hide their true identity. Ranni introduces herself as Renna when you first meet probably because she is responsible for the death of Godwyn, Maliketh is Gurranq probably so he can continue to gather death and Morgot disguises himself as Margit maybe because he hates who he really is.

Godfrey,Marika, miquella also. It's like they're hiding aspects of themselves like a shadow. It's all the aspects that society deems unnecessary so they hide it away. Then if we actually fight them those aspects are intergrated back into their persona usually in the second phase. That's my interpretation

Morgott goes by Margit because he is the “Veiled Monarch” of Leyndell. This is to say that he hid his identity and ruled only with his name and lineage. This is because the people, particularly the nobles, of Leyndell would never follow the rule of an omen, even though he’s the only one of the demi gods that chose to uphold his faith and loyalty to the golden order. He had to rule because no one else would do so while defending the current order. His identity as Margit came about because he had to assume another name when he made appearances on the battlefield. The omen people saw fighting could not be associated with the royal taking charge of their city’s defense during the Shattering.

Order's Blade DOES give you a holy damage buff based on the faith (only) incant scaling of your seal, which means the clawmark seal is bad for it compared to the finger seal or ones that scale higher to faith, even though it seems like a good option for you with your high strength. In addition to the added holy damage, the buff ALSO makes your weapon do +100% damage specifically to undead enemies and prevents them from trying to resurrect. If anyone told you there is no generalized damage bonus, they were incorrect.

Aegon, you’re missing quite a bit of lore by never checking the stat requirements on items and spells. Seeing whether a spell or weapon requires arcane, for instance, can give you a decent amount of insight into it. The same goes for looking at spells with very high int or fth requirements. Just something to consider.

1:43:33 You can summon Alexander at the entrance of the Fire Giant. It's curious because he's inside the boss arena, so if he dies you can resummon him.

I'm not sure if you figured it out yourself or if someone else has told you, but they brought power stancing back into this game. You don't have to hold Y/triangle, it will automatically do it when you have two weapons of the same type (and 1.5x strength). Unfortunately, it has to be two weapons of the same type and can't be a mix like in Ds2

Also, the Wormfaces (aka the Uprooted) is a direct reference to Déraciné, that game no one remembers From put out because it's VR. Déraciné means 'uprooted' and alienated and there's a couple of tableau with the Wormfaces that somewhat match some of the tableaus in Déraciné. It doesn't mean they are connected but it is a fun easter egg if you are like me, one of the dozens who love that game.

yeah Aegon, it is indeed possible to find Goldmask . He will be on a cliff below his previous position, but the map doesnt show it. Just trace your path from the Leyndell , Ashen Capital grace and go southwards in the direction of the Collosseum. Youll come across a fallen tree trunk as a bridge. Simply cross it

Am I the only one who hears Farum Azula and thinks Far Majula? I am genuinely starting to experience anxiety knowing how close this playthrough is to complete and the risk of less / irregular Aegon content. Guess I'll go back to my rewatch of Bloodborne: Let's Talk Lore (for the 50th time 😊). Please don't take this as a complaint, @Aegon_of_Astora. I know you're a busy man, and I appreciate all your videos and the time spent on them. Just keep sharing as much time with us KZbin plebs as you can? 😁

From my understanding of the lore, Princess Ranni stole the rune of death from Maliketh after the Queen hid it with him (her shadow) beyond time at Farum Azula when she removed it from the Elden Ring to evade a predetermined destiny(destined death) and it was used on the Night of the Black Knives to kill Godwyn, which devastated Queen Marika as it was likely what she feared most as his mother given his grooming to succeed her. I believe it was at this time that Princess Ranni deliberately ended her own life at the same exact cosmic moment, to cause an equal cosmic exchange; as a result Godwyn lost his soul and Ranni lost her body, but she donned the puppet body as she had prepared in advance. She seems to be exacting revenge for the wrongdoing to her mother and the Carian line. I believe this is why we find her body on the top of the divine tower and this is how she broke her ties with her own fingers. It seems to me that this could contribute to why Marika shattered the Elden Ring...possibly anger, frustration, rage, or just raw defiance and assertion of her actual god status. I think she just snapped. There are still questions of course...why would Ranni's own brother hold the cosmos in place to prevent her ascension? Maybe he just wanted it for himself as he was vying for the same ascension. Why is it that Queen Rennala cannot die?? as we have seemingly killed her twice

I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to tell you that the only difference in the Gurranq/Maliketh fight if you complete the deathroot quest is that he greets you with familiarity and questions your presence with that tone of betrayal. If you don't finish it his initial dialogue is just a little different, like he doesnt know who you are.

I hope your having a good day when you are reading this Aegon. Great work as always. Now that your exploring Farum Azula your pretty close to the end. But I'm sure you've figured that out already as we are watching past Aegon. I was so happy that you found Milicent. I believe you should still be able to complete her quest.

Once again loving the playthrough!! So glad you collected all the deathroot and got the rare Garranq introduction. Also, if you look up lore videos, Elden Ring brought a T O N of talented lore finders. Tarnished Archeologist looks at ER lore through an Earth history lens, finding similarities and such, Mad Luigi and SmoughTown have very good channels too, as well as Garden of Eyes, Queelag, and Last Protagonist. Obviously VaatiVidya too, but he's a given lol

Huzzah for Maliketh! I think Marika and Maliketh slightly mirror Ranni and Blaidd, but only wrt their roles-- Empyrean and Shadow. The only change in the fight is that by completing Gurranq's quest you got a bit of extra dialogue at the beginning of the fight. Had you not turned in all that Deathroot, "Gurranq" would simply be silent at the beginning. RIP Alexander... A true friend and warrior to the last. And poor, poor Hewg... Eternally cursed to smith by Marika, even at the expense of his memory and any sense of self or self-preservation, such an awful move on Her part. For all the ruin her reign has wrought, Marika is just as bad as Gwyn. We're almost to the end, and I'll be sad to not have this series to look forward to every week. Especially if this is your "last huzzah" as far as recording FromSoft games. Hopefully, is the stars align just right, we'll hear you discuss the game with the Snack Covenant some time.

Home stretch Aegon of the past! Out of curiosity, once you’re done with your playthrough do you watch any lore videos/look up bosses you missed? Or do you just learn from the comments on videos/rewatching during editing? And I was the one that recommended Black Knight Tiche and I stand by her! Thanks for the video Aegon, it’s been a hilarious and entertaining ride. I’m excited for the finale/perspective you will bring with your post game thesis once it’s finished
@Aegon_of_Astora Жыл бұрын
My ‘thesis’ will be based on the blind playthrough and viewer comments - I’ve not looked anything up or watched any lore videos. I have a vague sense of what I missed, which we’ll explore in NG+. Then, I’ll revisit and revise the preliminary analysis that is going to be presented in episode 64, possibly as a standalone video.

Are you glad that you did this playthrough by first finishing the game then uploading the videos. Or do you regret pre-recording it?
@traceries5201 Жыл бұрын
I hope people appreciate the humor you inject into these videos. I also appreciate that you are “bad at the game” because I am much worse but I enjoy them all the same and feel like I am 100% a counter argument for the game difficulty - in this game especially which gives so much opportunity to explore and level up if you are struggling. Melania aside it is fairly forgiving. I’m pretty sure if you ignored your personal and professional life you would become quite good at the game but life changes and our priorities evolve. Our gaming joys can still be fulfilled but just from a more scrub skill level. But success with diminishing skill is a skill in and of itself. Haha.

I think a lot of this is based on comfort so he set up Kick as the ash of war to replicate Dark Souls 3. Aegon is pretty busy, new kid, academia etc so it's understandable that this might be just as fun for him. As long as he's having fun, I'm personally here for his thoughts on the first playthrough. Some lion's claw ash of war to spice the moveset up, the damage and poise breaking potential a bit would be cool.
@sablemae8853 Жыл бұрын
Boss weapons or somber weapons are fun but can get boring also since you can't change their ash or scaling. I find it more fun to pick a regular weapon and switch ashes of war
