I like to think the Kwama life cycle goes Scrib to Soldier, then as the soldier gets too large to hold itself upright it drops down to 4 legs. The worm portion of the soldier separates from the body and becomes a forager while the remaining body becomes a mindless drone that moves slowly around the mine to do menial things. Scribs leave the mines in search of other locations to make nests, and if they find a suitable location without a queen's influence, the growing soldier becomes larger, stays attached to its armored body eventually becoming a new queen. And the cycle continues. As for the loss of legs between Scrib to soldier phase perhaps it just sheds them as 8 legs would be too much weight for them to stand upright to defend the queen. As their little scuttle walk is too slow for proper defense. Morrowind makes you think of this stuff.

With all the long-form video game analysis videos out there, many of which hardly even concern themselves with analysis and largely just retell the events of the game, it's cool to see one take a more focused approach by going in depth on an important element of game/world design. I'm only about 25 minutes in, but I'm really enjoying the breakdown of the dungeons, how or whether their design works to the benefit of the game, and how well they exhibit sensible attentions to detail. Hopefully this vid takes off. Seems like it's already begun to.

My favourite dungeons are the ones in Morrowind. I love the Dunmer strongholds and the practicality of them. There's an incentive to clear them out so you can use the Propylon system to blink across the map. Far more interesting than the fast travel system of later games.

It's unbelievable to me how incredible morrowind is considering what Bethesda eventually became.
@nickoliekeyov746Күн бұрын
@logancade342 People mistakenly assume that games are made by studios when they’re actually made by individuals. I realize that’s kind of a pedantic statement but it’s true, when it comes down to it, individual people are largely responsible for how a game is made and feels. Early ID software is a good example of what I think is productive discourse on games in the sense that it often revolves around who made what levels and what their style was. You can very easily tell a McGee level from a Petersen and a Romero from a Carmack.

@OnyxLeviathan8 сағат бұрын
Hmm. I could see it resembling saguaro. But as for the mushrooms, they form chitin, which although strong, probably wouldn’t be strong enough to use for support beams. Then again, the Telvanni do magic stuff with them, building entire structures. So who’s to say?
