AEM Oil Pressure Gauge Install - 2022+ Subaru WRX

A word of advice for all. The OEM sensor is 1/8 BSPT vs 1/8 NPT. Cutting hairs here, but it is highly recommended not to force it or you'll damage the threads. Be safe, and use a 1x male 1/8 BSPT to 1x female 1/8 BSPT by 1x female 1/8 NPT tee adapter. Alternatively, there is an M18 galley plug on top of the FA24 block left of the compressor. Purchase an M18x1.5 to 1/8 NPT adapter and run your new sensor from there.

@JcM944 yeah it's just easier to go off the top oil galley and use an M18x1.5 to 1/8 NPT. No having to mess around with the front fighting a cramped up position.

@JcM944 face the engine. Look at your compressor on your left hand side. Just inside to your right of the compressor. Big silver m18 plug with a hex.

I'd like to seea gauge that is built into a trim piece, something discreet but easily readable of course, that will give it an oem+ feel, if it was less of a cylinder and more of a window in the trim that would look nice!

Those are for stand alone ECUs, you don’t need them for what we are doing.

Agreed, it would be a great feature to have from the factory! The stock “sensor” is more like a switch and comes on when oil pressure is below 2.1 PSI which is way too late 🙃

I've never had a sports/performance car that didn't have an oil psi gauge on it OE. Is this a tradition with WRXs to only have an oil temp but no psi gauge? Seems dumb not to have both with a turbo car.

My theory for why my new 2025 Forester doesn’t have an oil pressure gauge is: Subaru knows that their upside down easy to access oil filters drain back down and become empty so upon starting the motor there is about 5-6 seconds of no or very little oil pressure. They know this is bad so they hide it!!!
