Poor Aemilianus. He sure was willing to become the man who would restore Rome's glory, only to be known in History as "the guy before Valerian" LOL

Yes, that reminded me of one Jewish saying, " May you live in boring times". Pax Romana lasted 2 centuries, relative peace and prosperity. The 3rd century was really packed with action, usually negative things, wars, illness...

It's a shame that the primary sources available for the 3ce emperors was so limited.....would be interesting to see what was actually written about these guys...how bad were they or were they actually capable of greater things that were hampered by the times

Knowing the sad history of the Roman senate from Augustus' reign onwards, I sincerely doubt that Aemilianus' plan to divide imperial powers between the emperor and the senate would have worked out for long - the main problem being the hubris and ambitions of senators who thought that they alone could rule the empire better than the current emperor. The result wouöd have been the same as actially happened even without this revolutionary idea - Usurpers popping up all over the empire and countless civil wars.

Why didn’t you mention his Amazigh origins? Like you mentioned that Philip the Arab was an Arab about 100 times in his video even though he was Aramean?

Notice how the narrator doesn’t mention Aemilian’s Amazigh origins, as expected. If you go to his video on Philip the Arab (who wasn’t even Arab, he was Aramean), he mentions about 100 times that Philip was an Arab. You couldn’t pass 30 seconds without him mentioning that Philip was an Arab. But fails to even mention once that Aemilian was Amazigh. Is it racism or is it just pure ignorance? Pan Arabism is a racist movement, so if that’s his agenda than he’s very racist. Or is he trying to ignore his ethnicity for people to assume that Aemilian was a European Roman born in African province? Eurocentrism is also a form of racism. Either way he’s racist, and extremely ignorant.

You are greatly overthinking the videos. Emperor Philip is simply known as 'the Arab' by history, which is why everyone calls him that even though he probably wasn't one. Aemillianus might also be of Lybian origin. Hard to say since this all happened before the great migration period and many people in north africa were romans of latin origins at the time.

@@stayunknown3421 I haven't watched both video's yet, just reading comments but if I quickly do a search on both emperors Aemilianus is merely Aemilianus. (when I search Aemilianus emperor) While when I search on Philip emperor I get Philip the Arab. So from that research of 2 seconds I think that is the case. Though I need to watch both video's . Ngl, I think I just wait until his series is done and then watch it all after each other to get a better idea.
