One of my favorite characters from this series. I love how they handled his scene at the end of the episode, even though at first I was scpetical about it, considering that in the books Aemond kills Lucerys completely by his own intent. But as Viserys mentions in the first episode, "The idea that we control the dragons, is an illusion". Adds a new layer to the character and something that will undoubtebly serve as a big moment in the future seasons as well.

I empathize with this character. He was bullied for many years and Out of all of his siblings he is the most driven, duty bound, honest, best swordsmen, the smartest, and was able to take the biggest dragon while he was still a child. But now, history will only remember him for his one mistake and it was a mistake that he really didn’t make. He didn’t order Vaghar to kill Lucerys and yet all of Westeros will know him for is being a kinslayer. Imagine all of the things you worked so hard for to improve how you see yourself all thrown away in the heat of the moment and what’s tragic about it all was that it was an accident. I’m still Rooting for Aemond even though my honor forces me to side with the Blacks

Rhaenyra is the rightful heir, there are no laws in westeros (at this point in their history) that prevents a woman from inheriting the throne, only a religious mandate from a religion the targaryens don't follow, and there is infact precedent for a woman taking the throne after the last king dies, and rhaenyra was the named heir of the king even once he had sons, so by every law of westeros rhaenyra is the true heir to the throne. Aegon is a usurper, and the irony being that he didn't even want to be king. Aegon is not the rightful heir, rhaenyra is and that's not up for debate, by every law of their world she is the one true heir.

Aegons sister wife took the throne after his death for a time so that is the precedent that only occurred less than 100 years before the events of house of the dragon. and for another example to prove women can infact inherit the throne, you can see that women can inherit the throne by the fact that even before rhaenyra was made heir, rhaenys was going to inherit the throne instead of viserys, and the only reason she didn't inherit the throne is because king jaehaerys knew that daemon was raising an army to place his brother viserys on the throne so jaehaerys named viserys his heir to prevent an all out war from breaking out. The reason rhaenys didn't inherit is not because she was a woman and therefore couldn't inherit, it was simply because king jaehaerys wanted to avoid a war that daemon was clearly going to start if viserys didn't inherit the throne, which shows women can infact inherit the throne, it just hadn't been done again since aegons sister wife. And besides, in an absolute monarchy like westeros has even if there were a law (which there absolutely wasn't) saying a woman couldn't be the heir, the kings word is law and supercedes any previous laws and his say is final, so if he names his daughter heir and there were a law preventing women from inheriting the throne (again, which there definitely wasn't) his ruling would counteract that law. So rhaenyra is the rightful heir and that's just a fact.

I really like how he lost control of vahgar as it builds so much depth to the character. We hear all about the magical bond dragon and rider have- it makes sense a magical animal who has been going to war for the past century and a half would have more control in this bond.

He a young boy elementary school aged was being chases by his older uncle who road on the back of the largest living dragon, the same uncle who had tried to attack him earlier. it was aemond who chases after him had his dragon snap at him and cornered him in a ravine. it was aemond who could not control his dragon and stop his own dragon from killing Luke.

Not rly. While Cole is better at tourneys, Daemon is considered the greatest swordsman. And if you look at episode 1, he could have beaten Cole, he already had him on the ground, he just started to celebrate prematurely and so Cole knocked him down

I think we so often forget that this is a DISABLED man, who was disabled at a pivotal age. You can see how that fact festered and developed over the years...first he is on a high from getting a dragon out of it, but he then feels that it is not enough and wants an eye for an eye. He (and probably everyone else) sees it as a weakness just like not having a dragon was a weakness. He is traumatised and will keep going in circles trying to heal his ableism..first a dragon, then an eye, what's next? Aemond is the most complex, well written character I've ever known.

Wow. After the accident, Allicent demanded 'an eye for an eye', she almost attacked Luke herself. That's the scene I actually referred to on my first comment. In the book, after receiving news about Luke's death, Daemond writes, "An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys will be avenged." But you must be a very vengeful person for saying that losing an eye is equal to losing a life/son

They should have commit with his character, he should have wanted to kill Luce like he did in the books, not by accident but by intent. He'd have been the most iconic villain in the shows and might as well be the most iconic Targaryen, he embodied the chaotic nature of a Targaryen. I get the trend of humanizing characters to make them more compelling but he comes off as a victim in the live action version (even till the end of the season) which I guess is the point, there are just few villains out there who is depicted as outright black and white evil now.

Show Aemond is an upgrade imo. In the books, Aemond was just an evil madman without any nuance (An entertaining one). It makes what will happen to Helaena and her children even more tragic. Aemond clearly cares for his sister in show. And it's his fault (and Daemon's). His guilt will slowly drive him into madness. That will make an interesting character arc. I hope they keep Aemond and Helaena deaths in the same day. It would be poetic kinda.
