To be fair, Daemon would have been a terrible king.. At least, in the beginning Aemond put an effort in his studies. Daemon just wanted power and glory for the sake of it.

Daemon's no angel. He stays close to Raenyra because he wants the throne, not because he loves her, If they follow the book, Daemon will abandon Raenyra. He had a child beheaded. Raenyra will die and Daemon and Aemond will kill each other and Vhagar and Caraxes will also kill each other over the God's eye.

@@jagerchloe9102 yes but daemon was rooted to his family unlike Aemond who forgot his place once he mounted vhagar. Daemon mounted the strongest of the dragons but was loyal to his brother and loved him while Aemond knew no love for his family.

@@KathyWarner he loves rhaenyra and always did. He was confused with his ambition for his throne and the wish of his brother over the succession of rhaenyra. He overcame his inner battle over his ambition at his time in harrenahal, realising his life purpose by fully submitting to his wife queen rhaenyra .

They really did ruin his character… most of the greens, actually, especially Alicent omg. But I admire Aemond for his genuine efforts to keep fighting and end the war his mother started by crowning his brother king.

@@thefirminator Aemond was extremely loyal to his family. Even when his brother was injured after Rook's rest and the crown was placed on his head he didnt call himself regent or king, only protector of the realm. The inconsistency of his writing ruined it also. He was regretful about killing Luke and said he did not want to do it, the writers prominently establishing that he is not a psychopathic killer but in the very next episode he is a psychopathic manic killer? And please dont tell me he hates his brother, he hated Lucerys too but still did not wish to kill him so it makes no sense. And they ruined it again by spoiling his death. So he knows how he dies. Either he dosent go to God's eye fearing his death and gets branded as a coward. Secondly, he becomes nihilistic and dosent want to fight the war as he was doing till now. Or they make him suicidal, make him repentant and absolve his sins by dying even after knowing his death. They took away all his motivations and agency, everything that made him Aemond Targaryen. In S1 he was set up in such a brilliant way, a perfect mixture of book and show traits. But now he is done. I cant see any other way how you can make a character written like that come back.

I really love how it’s revealed that Aemond KNOWS that Helaena is a dreamer and accepts it. Out of everyone, it makes sense for it to be him, bc he’s well versed in the History of house Targaryen and Valyria, so he knows about the existence of dreamers and believes in them
