Which direction did y’all jump the resistor? Like is the yellow side soldered into the green or white wire?

Interesting video, I just found this, and wonder can I use this in an Engine swap situation, would I need to have 2 ECUs, just wondering how to make that work
@AEMpowerTVelectronics
@AEMpowerTVelectronics 5 жыл бұрын
Assuming you are talking about an engine swap that uses a stock ECU, if the ECU is 2008-up then the channels going to the OBDII port are transmitted via CAN bus and you can use our Plug & Play OBDII adapter harness to receive them on the dash: www.aemelectronics.com/products/cd-digital-dash-displays-adapter-harnesses/cd-7-plug-play-adapter-harnesses-3rd-party-devices/cd-7-obdii-can-plug-play-adapter-harness If it is not an 08-up engine, then you would need to convert your channels to CAN bus, and we make 22 and 6 Channel CAN Converter modules that make it really easy to do: www.aemelectronics.com/products/cd-digital-dash-displays-adapter-harnesses/aemnet-can-bus-expansion-modules

So I have everything all wired up like shown in video but nothing is working when car is on with engine running or off? What is it that I did wrong Hondata s300 v3 120ohm resistor jumped between CAN H/L still not working??

Says fuel level wire into hondata then transmitted via can hi and low but you can see the yellow wire even going out of the ecu into the same connector as the can hi and low white and green wires so what is the yellow fuel wire plugging into? And if your car doesn’t have a vdm then you just run separate ground and power instead of getting power and ground from vdm ? And where are the vdm connectors coming from and going to ? It shows them plugging in but not to what or from where and getting the the input on laptop but as can? Kinda confusing just throwing the vdm in there but not really explaining it
@blacklineindustries7602
@blacklineindustries7602 4 жыл бұрын
In the video they explained that there's a converter in the car to take fuel level resistance and output a 0-5v analog signal so the yellow wire is connecting to the fuel level converter. The AEMnet connectors typically have four pins in them: CAN+/-, power and ground so you can just daisy chain devices together and they can get their power/ground from that one connection. The VDM is not a power source - it's just another device on the AEMnet network. They explained in the video that the car used to have another dash so they're using the power/ground from that to supply power onto the AEMnet connections. The VDM just plugs into AEMnet. All AEMnet or other CAN devices are all just in parallel with each other - that's how CAN networks work. Nothing is really any different with or without the VDM in there. If the car had an AEM ECU then the ECU would supply power/ground onto AEMnet since they come wired that way but since this car has Hondata, separate power/ground must be provided.

Forgive my late reply But I have a rywire p14 pdm system in my Honda, with hondata v3. I will have a “can” plug for my dash chosen as my option from rywire. Will your cd5 plug directly into their can plug or will I still need to modify my ecu. Thanks a lot! Tried to write that legibly. Lol

Thanks for the demo. I am leaning more & more to this device but ultimately would be looking for a complete system. Which PDM & Keypad would you recommend using with a system similar to this (Using a different ECU i.e. Link, Haltec or other)?

Would this be compatible with Kpro3? The digital output on Hondata is a smaller port compared to the Kpro4
@AEMpowerTVelectronics
@AEMpowerTVelectronics 4 жыл бұрын
At this time, we do not have a Serial to CAN adapter available, so there is no way to get the data from a KPro3 to a CD Carbon Dash. Short of upgrading to a KPro4, you can use a 22 Channel CAN Sensor Module to send data to the dash separate from the KPro3.

Thanks for the kind words! As long as your truck is 2008-up and you have the OBDII Adapter cable and have provided power to the dash, once you poll the OBDII port using DashDesign software and assign the received channels in your layout they should display. Our tech guys can help you out, so please contact them at gen.tech@aemelectronics.com!

From a connection standpoint yes, but you will also need the DBC files for the ECU to be able to transmit the channels to the dash. Please check our forum for more info and to get tech support: aemelectronics.com/?q=forum/can-configurations-3rd-party-hardware

Could i get a better explanation of the “terminating resistor” wiring?
@AEMpowerTVelectronics
@AEMpowerTVelectronics 4 жыл бұрын
Canbus networks require a terminating resistor at both ends, the AEM CD-5&7 have a built in terminating resistor that can be selected on or off in the software. The other end of the network (in this case the hondata unit) does not have a terminating resitor so one will need to be added in (time stamp 2:21). The terminating resistor is a 120ohm resistor that bridges between the can + and - wires.

Is a 22 channel can sensor moduel needed for this?
@AEMpowerTVelectronics
@AEMpowerTVelectronics 5 жыл бұрын
If you do not have an ECU that transmits channels by CAN bus (either a standalone ECU or 2008-up factory ECU), then the 22 Channel CAN Sensor Module is the best way to get channels to the dash. We also make a 6 Channel CAN Sensor Module if you want to start with basic channels first (2 pressure, 2 temps, RPM, and fuel level). More info is here on both CAN Modules: www.aemelectronics.com/products/cd-digital-dash-displays-adapter-harnesses/aemnet-can-bus-expansion-modules

If you have a Kpro4 you do not need a CAN Module. If you watch the video all the way through we show you how to hook up your KPro to the dash including how to make the CAN wiring. The only difference between the S300v3 and KPro4 is the connector on the Honda board, so this video will show you how to do it! The software setup procedures in the video are the same, too.

We cover the wiring in the video. It's just a simple setup. We even provide PNs for the ancillary items you need to make a CAN harness. Once you make the harness, the wiring is as simple as connecting the DTM connector from the CAN output on the S300 to the DTM receptacle on the dash harness.
