I just scored the largest haul of my entire succulent career at a yard sale yesterday! My father in law showed up with a box full for me from there so I went back to check it out. All new to me except a ghostie but it’s a different color than the ones I have. I went back for 2 boxes full. Got some air plants and display pieces too. The lady told me to come back today after 3 and I could have what she had left. I wish I’d went but I’m really running out of room.

Absolutely gorgeous! I have a fraction of the amount of plants that you have and sometimes I get overwhelmed with watering I just don't know how you do it. I would be so frazzled that I would shut down LOL and then on top of it you're preparing to leave. You are in my prayers just to give you the strength to get through each day!!!❤️❤️❤️

That's why a good soil mix is essential. I hardly water them and only take care of them when I remember....LOL

Hi Liz!! Can you please do a series playlist at some point? I have so many graptos, pachys, haworthia, aeonium, echeverias, dudleyas and sedums but get a little confused on when to water what and when to fertilize or expose to sun. I know you’re super busy but if you get a chance a care tip playlist by genus would be superrrrr helpful
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK10 ай бұрын
That might be a bit impossible to do because of so many different varieties & hybrids. The same species of succulents can have varying needs. For example, not all Echeveria have the same growing requirements. Some Echeveria prefers less watering and other Echeveria loves water. Soil requirements, dormancy period and light condition can also vary with each variety or hybrid. Also the same with Cacti. Some loves water and can be soaked for weeks in water and thrive, but others rot easily if given water without letting the soil dry up first.

Lisk while watching this video I noticed the very small sunburst aonieum at the back of the pot. I have 1 sunburst, 1 mardi grah and 1 inferno all are a little bigger than your baby but I've had them now for about 15 months all look healthy but are not getting any bigger. I live in South Australia so they will go dormant now, is there anything I could do in April to help them along before their growing season. TIA
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK2 жыл бұрын
Not all aeonium necessarily go dormant in summer. Their growing season is autumn through spring in a temperate climate (cool and no frost with not too hot summer). South Australia climate is perfect for Aeonium. In my experience, they only go dormant when temperature goes over 28°C. If kept somewhere cool and bright area, some will continue to grow. If they're not growing, it might be due to your soil. They prefer a fast-draining rich soil. A premium potting mix with pumice or perlite added will do well. They also like water. Lately, my Aeonium started closing off when we had a few days of 20's and going warmer. Past couple of days when it was cloudy and cold.... they started opening again.
@missann09063 жыл бұрын
I love them so much ,do you use your super potting mix?and also what happens during Dormancy?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK3 жыл бұрын
During dormancy they're not growing so I only water them once a month or if the soil is still moist due to high humidity; I don't water them until they wake up when the weather is cooler.
@reshma76153 жыл бұрын
Could you plz tell us how old your aeonium lily pad mother plant is ? I have a tiny one with just 3 little rosettes. Can't wait for it to look like your plant.

Have you ever tried to keep one inside in Sun all year long? When I look up aeoniums it says you can keep them inside in cold climates. I am trying one to see if it works.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have. They grow well inside too. Just annoying during summer when they start losing their leaves as they go into dormancy.
@ns-wz1mx3 жыл бұрын
mine were destroyed by mealie bugs but i’m going to try again this summer
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK3 жыл бұрын
They're dormant in summer. Best to acquire them in the rainy season or in Spring and Autumn. They like water and mealybug is a sign that they're not watered enough.

Hello Ms.Lizk i just wanna ask if how do you know if your succulents are dormant and what will you do if it's dormant?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the species, they usually flower first and then go to sleep. Then they stop growing and you should hold off on watering them or they'll rot.

I know this is an old video but I need help with my aeonium kiwi. I ordered 4 pots of kiwi and they arrived cold, soggy and droopy. I am not sure if they will make it. I’m wondering what I can do to make them survive.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK10 ай бұрын
Sounds like you got them in Winter. Aeonium don't like the cold and will die from the frost. They also go dormant in summer. Best time to buy them is in spring or autumn when temperature is not too hot or cold.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe the soil was kept too wet for them. Maybe use a grittier mix next time.
