100% agree about the luggage pass through. It’s the one reason I don’t want to travel by plane with this bag. Might be a minor thing for some people but it’s so annoying.

Hi Katherine - agreed! Surprised it isn’t spoken about more. However, a solid backpack overall.

thank you so much for this video! i was thinking about getting this for travelling, and i was so keen on the luggage passthrough, but it seems like the search will continue for me.

No worries. If you need a travelling bag that you won’t be carrying on your back the whole trip, I’d recommend something like a TUMI backpack (they’re quite expensive though, but really good). There are other brands too that will likely have a proper luggage pass-through, but yeah, it’s a deal-breaker if you fly regularly.

I went from that exact same Wenger bag to this Aer. The biggest thing I noticed is the weight difference. Curious that mine does have a side handle and yours doesn’t. Also, the luggage pass through is not a deal breaker for me. I don’t travel often, just 3-4x year for work. Finally, I do agree with your rating. Thanks!

Hi yes the Wenger bag had served me well. You mention that your bag has a side handle - that’s a good feature - are you sure it’s the City Pack Pro that you have? Have they updated it? Yes, the luggage pass through isn’t a dealbreaker for me as I don’t travel enough for it to be. If I travelled abroad every month for example, I would have a different bag. AER makes some nice backpacks. I noticed that they added a proper luggage pass through to one of their bags fairly recently; maybe they saw this video! Anyhow thanks for commenting and watching! 👍🏾

@@lifetraveltech3176 After checking again, I don’t have the Pro, just the City Pack which is a bit smaller (14L)

Excellent review mate! Very detailed 👌 what abou the weight of the backpack? Packed and unpacked 🤔is it a good option as an every say backpack?

Hi, it’s not a heavy back pack, however it is a big-ish backpack, with lots of storage compartments, so when packed, it can get very heavy. As an everyday backpack, it’s almost perfect. Only thing better in my opinion, is maybe a Tumi backpack, mainly because of vertical luggage pass-through and they’re nice (but a bit expensive).

@lifetraveltech3176 Very light. I don't travel much. For everyday the cons aren't deal breakers. I was going to put different zippers and zipper pulls

I'm torn between this and the travel pack 3 small for edc backpack. Which do you highly recommend? Nice review! Just what I need!

Hi, for EDC I’d say City Pack Pro with X-PAC. It has tons of compartments and is very ergonomic for daily use. It looks very high end too and fits in well in most environments (casual and formal) because of the jet black colour and low profile design). Now, if you travel abroad regularly for work or leisure, I think that the travel pack is probably better because of the extra carry handle and waist strap (costs extra). The carry handle will make it easier to move around and gives you extra options. I mentioned that I don’t like the luggage pass-through. This is almost a dealbreaker for me for travel. The extra handle on the Travel Pack 3 may help out with this though. So therefore, for travel (if you’re okay with horizontal strap for luggage pass-through), Travel Pack 3 is a good option for you probably. However for EDC, I can pretty much recommend the City Pack Pro with X-PAC at this point. I’ve had it for about 5 -6 months and it ticks all the boxes for what I need it for day-to-day.

How big of a bottle can you fit in the side bottle compartment
@lifetraveltech3176
@lifetraveltech3176 Жыл бұрын
Hi - I have a bottle that is 680ml and 11” by 3” (roughly 28cm x 8 cm) and it fits perfectly. Anything much bigger than that might be a struggle. You can easily fit a 500ml bottle to give some perspective. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching

Do you know if it fits AirPods Max in the upper front compartment ?
@lifetraveltech3176
@lifetraveltech3176 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I don’t have AirPods Max, but the top front compartment is of a pretty decent size. I estimate that you can fit them in. There are a few pockets in that area that are for things like spare change, keys and bits and pieces. I would use the main compartment, or even the laptop area pocket for bulky headphones. 🎧

That luggage strap seems like a last minute add on to keep people from complaining. This is city pack. Not a evergooods ctb- civic TRAVEL......bag. I don't feel like anything should be marked down for a feature you knew wasn't there. I hear people complain about no side handle too 😂😂😂😂

True, although they now have a new backpack that has the luggage pass through as it’s supposed to be. It’s an inferior model to the City Pack Pro though. I suppose I’m glad it’s there as an option, as it works, but if I was a frequent traveller, this bag would not be the one I’d use. They shouldn’t even mention the luggage pass through and just have it as a “bonus” feature, if you notice it.

It fits, but it’s just awkward to use. A significant design flaw, on an almost perfect backpack.

Whats the difference between x-pack and non x-pack backpacks?
@lifetraveltech3176
@lifetraveltech3176 Жыл бұрын
Hi, x-pac is a lighter and is more waterproof than non x-pac (e.g. canvas). It’s also more water-resistant. In my personal experience, it’s very dust and dirt resistant and looks great. The City Pack Pro X-Pac has an orange interior and I believe an extra pocket for keys, whereas the non x-pac version doesn’t.
