So that's the biggest barge and crane on the eastern seaboard ?

There will be two cranes, the largest of which can lift 1000 tons.

Why was there no tugboats escorting large boats out beyond the bridge is a mystery to me

The Versabar 10,000 is what's needed. Did great job on the Golden Ray in South Carolina. It is now in the Gulf and I don't believe it is in use at this time

They have only one crane out there?

I'm assuming that crane is in the position where the construction workers were on the bridge to recover their bodies first before doing anything else.
@mikebockey4125

i don’t think they need a crane for that part of the recovery operation
@cgschow1971

The 2 that were recovered were in a vehicle. If the other 4 were not, the currents probably carried them off by now, unless they were somehow pinned in the wreckage.
@kevink2315

They need to move sunken bridge sections from the pickup, to recover those 2 bodies.
@lazygardens
@lazygardens 8 ай бұрын
They saw vehicles on sonar so they know where the cars were, BUT they are covered in pavement debris and girders. So they will clear debris until they can SAFELY recover the vehicles. Clear the small stuff, cut the big stuff into small stuff, clear more small stuff. All of this happening with visibility range in the inches and strong tidal currents.
@lazygardens
@lazygardens 8 ай бұрын
@@kevink2315 The pickup, with the two bodies, has been removed. The remaining vehicles are under debris and that needs clearing.

At this point the only question i have is did they up the insurance policy on the bridge right before the crash. Exactly like the twin towers.

Times like this makes you glad that Congress passed that trillion dollar infrastructure bill a couple of years ago, let this project be the first for all taxpayers to see at work. 2 billion of the trillion shouldn't be an issue and for once it should be covered. I mean that was what the trillions were set aside for...right?

TEARS = 2024 !! Tears are the raindrops of the soul And there's one for all who die. They are the silent words of grief As they fall free from the eye. The shortest verse in the Bible Is the one where Jesus wept So, if you hold back tears, shed them When your pain is too harsh to accept. Tears are lovelier than a smile When they come from those you love As they seek relief from sadness When you're summoned from above. Tears are a love-mates humble gift When it's time to say goodbye Though the eyes are wet and swollen With time and patience they dry. By Tom Zart!

Maybe it was the prop walk caused the stern to move port side, of course the bow would move to starboard side accordingly. While propeller was in full reverse (judging by the amount of engine smoke), the rudder was much less effective in steering the ship, despite the ship was having emergence/regular power minutes before the collision. Sounds like pilot's or operator's error when they were under great stress to regain directional control, they should have kept the ship going forward inside the navigation channel as it was instead of putting the ship in reversing.
