Thank you for this excellent footage. Prayers for those lost

As important this busy corridor is to the nations economy you’d think every pier would be ultra protected. Also this drone footage shows just how massive these cargo ships are. The bridge looks tiny next to it

I’m upset that there are 5 cars with people in them, dead and in a watery grave because of this. Such a terrifying way to die

I think about it every time I cross a bridge this big. Last one I crossed was the Skyway in Tampa. Can't imagine my final seconds realizing a major fear has come to reality.

It’s the number of victims who perished in this horrific way to die. The Governor said in a given day, an estimated 30,000 travelers on that bridge. But no numbers were released yet at the day it collapsed. Praying that there weren’t any on the day it collapsed. Six people working on repairing potholes, were missing. 😢God bless everyone impacted. 🙏✝️❤️

I used to get nervous as hell driving over that bridge, especially on windy days when it would toss my truck around.
@judycoyne78189 ай бұрын
I Don’t believe it was fragile in the least!! The extreme weight of the ship plus its full load of cargo and inability to maneuver or stop was prevented by the loss of power!!
@chrisdraughn59419 ай бұрын
@@judycoyne7818 I’d say it was vulnerable with those unprotected pylons with large ships going under on a regular basis. The design was flawed and it was confirmed last night when that ship knocked it down like a toy. It should have had a barrier wall protecting those main support pylons. Vulnerable or fragile? Not much of a difference if you ask me.

How could they design such weak supporting pillars for the bridge ????
@judycoyne78189 ай бұрын
Don’t think they were weak at all!!!! Imagine the weight of all the cargo, the ship itself and the fact it was moving forward when it lost power!! Black smoke was visible from the rear revealing a major event happening…I view the black smoke before the ship hit the pier!!

My questions are these, how much would it have cost to put bumpers on the bridge piers? And why wasn't it done?
@robotpizza9 ай бұрын
Bumpers? Are you serious? That cargo ship would have still taken the bridge out

You can't turn that boat , that fast with just steerage. Dropping the port anchor caused it. Who did that ? Dropping the starboard anchor would have turned them the other way and the captain didn't know that.
